Steel Vaquero Ejector Rod Housing

I ordered (not from Ruger) a steel Ruger ejector rod housing to replace an aluminum housing on a "original" large frame Vaquero. I noticed that it did not line up correctly - there was a gap where the lower side of the housing meets the barrel.

I sent it back, and received a replacement. Same gap. Also, same gap on another large-frame Vaquero. At least it is consistent. It looks like the opening in the frame in the New Vaquero for the ERH may be higher due to the smaller frame size, relative to the screw hole in the barrel. The ERH for the original, larger frame Vaquero fits fine. I did not mess with the barrel alignment.

The ERH came in a bag marked "New Model", and was only polished on the convex outer radius, not on the concave sides which were only bead blasted.

Question: Did Ruger change the specs on the ejector rod housing? I tried to order the Blackhawk ERH - but I am not sure that is what the stock puller gave me - I should have not said the word "Vaquero".

I was afraid they would send me another alloy ERH if I said Blackhawk. So many ways to die.
So they did change the specs for the New Vaquero? It would seem unlike Ruger - it would mean they would have to change the location of the screw hole in the barrel, as well. And if both were changed, the ERH should fit both guns the same. But the barrels would not. Ruger is more of a "box-o-parts" company. (I do like their revolvers, just sayin'). Tempted to order one from the factory.
