Threaded Barrel for MKIII Stainless Target

Lots of thanks for the info on threading my MKIII Target barrel for a suppressor host. I read over the web site and found the info very encouraging. The one thing I did not expect was the info about cutting the barrel length down to 4.25" threaded and this allowing 22LR standard velocity to stay below speed of sound exiting the barrel. Should be extra quiet with a good quality suppressor.

Its up to you if you want to shorten the barrel. I have several hosts that are longer than 4" and the ammo stays subsonic if you use standard velocity, or subsonic ammo. Only high velocity ammo will go supersonic from a barrel longer than 4" and that depends on the brand. I have a Smith and Wesson 422 with a 6" barrel that I can shoot suppressed, and some high velocity ammo breaks the sound barrier, and some doesn't.

I have several Ruger 10/22s that are threaded. They are 16"-18" barrels. I use CCI Standard Velocity, Wolf Target Match, and Gemtech Suppressor brand ammo. It all stays subsonic in those barrel lengths.
