Featureless SR 556 Take Down?

I have the "Gen 1" / older version bought in 2015 when they first came out. Has anyone made one of these featureless to avoid AW registration? Can anyone give info, advice, or any help at all?
Also, will doing so make it not fit in the bag it comes with?
Thank you so much!

Since this is a strictly California issue, stop by CalGuns or another California gun forum or talk to your local gunsmith. This is an issue they deal with regularly now.

By the way, why didn't you do this before the AW law went into effect?

Thanks for the info.
Since I bought this AR in 2015, I have until 2018 to decide if I want to make these modifications or register it as an AW.
Thanks again!

Not registering it would be a felony (if I don't modify it/make it featureless) and I'm not super interested in losing my right to own a firearm.
I'm just looking for some advice as to the best way to go about making it featureless. Some helpful advice other than, don't comply, or move out of California would really be appreciated.
Thanks again!

You may want to contact Ruger with your issue. Maybe they are working on something. That's not the best advice I can give, but you already said to not give that to you.

The registration isn't that ominous as far as it's currently written but, if you don't want to register and you want it featureless, there are a few things that need changing. I don't know of any manufacturers currently producing acceptable parts so it really should be done, right now, by a gunsmith familiar with the law.

However, I'll bet that in six months or so you'll see add on mods available to make these featureless. Some are easy, others less so. At least the AR556, if you got a California compliant one, is easier than some other ARs. The bullet button is probably the big one without a truly adequate solution.

Haha! Thanks so much dingode! That's actually a great idea about contacting Ruger directly. Most gun companies don't really do much for us California customers. Arsenal is the worst! Great gun but we get no love from the company at all.
And yes. I get it. People think I should move, but I love my home (not my actual apartment, my apartment sucks, but home in the "where I'm from sense ;-).
You should actually be encouraging me to stay, and others to move here to help with the fight for American Gun Ownership. Some of our anti gun laws, and politicians, may come to your town one day. You may actually be asking this same question one day if we don't stop it here, but I sincerely hope not.
