SA cylinder swap to a DA revolver

Howdy ya'll!
With the new .44spl GP100 announcement, It got me thinking about why a 5 shot? My Reasoning is, since a SA in .44 is as small a frame as a GP100, why couldnt you just swap in, and or modify a SA .44 cylinder to work in the GP100 frame, and have a medium frame big bore 6 shooter?

Thanks!

UM... well I suppose ANYTHING is possible, with enough expense, time, and effort. It probably would be easier to machine a complete new cylinder. Its kinda like putting a V-8 into a VW Beetle. Can it be done...? SURE !! Is it easy and cost effective? Um... well... no

There's a reason why the new GP100 has a 5 round cylinder .... it's just to small in diameter to hold 6 rounds and still have enough metal between chambers to deal with internal pressure. A 6 round cylinder would require a larger frame with a larger "cylinder window", plus the barrel would be too low to align with the cylinder. Not to mention .... cylinder center holes for SA revolvers are made totally different than cylinders for DA revolvers.
