Free spin pawl question.

Hi all, I bought a set of 45 colt stainless sheriff model vaqueros that have the free spin pawls installed. I though it would be interesting to have one in 45acp so I installed the acp cylinder from my accusport bisley that never gets used. The cylinder fits well and is timed correctly, but it is not free spinning. It has the normal clicks and stops. What needs to be done to free spin the acp cylinder....Dave

Are you cocking the hammer before you open the loading gate? the free spin is with the hammer all the way down. At the next click up it acts just like a Colt. If that is not the problem, the Ron Powers Free Spin Pawls have to be fitted to each cylinder. While it is not hard to do, the instructions fill two pages and a drawing. PM me your address and I would be happy to send you a copy. I am afraid though, that when you fit it to the 45 ACP cylinder it will not fit the original 45 Cold cylinder.

medicdave, Compare the factory cylinder with the ACP Bisley cylinder. I'm betting the diameter of the ratchet surface is larger on the Bisley.
