Convert LCR .38 to 9mm?

Can I replace the .38 cylinder with a 9mm cylinder on my LCR so I could interchange them to have one pistol capable of shooting both 9mm and .38?

Probably but the 9mm is built with the 357 magnum frame insert which is steel instead of aluminum. Apparently then the 38 Special LCR is not intended for the higher pressures/thrust of the 9mm/357 cartridges and ya wouldn't have a safe/sanctioned set up.

I think sharps covered it. Mechanically it's probably possible but engineering-wise, no way. Plus if you saw the other thread on what it takes to swap a cylinder on the LCR, I don't think you'd want to do that anyway. Just get an LCR9 if that's what you want.

People have converted the aluminum S&W 38 J Frames to 9mm with no ill effects. People have put big block V-8s in Vegas and Monzas. Is it a risk? Certainly, Is it possible? Yes.

I would strongly suggest no because the LCR 9 mm does have the same frame as the .357 LCR for a good reason......much higher pressure of a cartridge 9mm vs .38 Special!!!

You might give TK Custom a shout to see if they'd do it.
