Best Shot

Shot a deer first time hunting with a 357 handgun. Deer had a crossbow bolt stuck in its jaw
Couldn't mount the deer so I mounted the crossbow bolt. Felt like a trophy to me.

I've also duplicated Michael Blackburns famous cast iron skillet shot although with only 1 skillet instead of 2(we only have 1 skillet). Shooting done with 22LR out of Savage rifle.
Gonna have to try this. I thought me and my brother had tried (not necessarily accomplished) every trick-shot in the book!

The best shot I have had was during deer season several years ago. I was set up in a blind at the edge of a large field in the late afternoon waiting on a deer to present itself within range. There were woods at my back behind the blind. I had a buck tag and a doe tag so the options were open.

As the shadows grew long two does appeared at my right slowly walking out of the woods approximately 120 yards away. I slowly lined up the crosshairs of my Winchester Model 70 in .270 on the larger of the two and decided it was time to fill my doe tag. Squeezing off the shot at the large doe the bullet hit in the 10 ring for deer. The doe stumbled and started to run but didn't get very far.

The best shot was still to come. As the sound of the first shot died away a buck popped out of the woods into the field very close to my blind (50 feet)! He appeared to be startled by the noise and picked the wrong way to run that day. Both of us saw each other at the same time... He turned to run back into the woods and I opened and closed the bolt of my rifle faster than I have ever done before. Just as he was starting to leap the crosshairs dropped onto him. He filled the scope reticle as he was so close... all I saw was brown. I fired and hit him with a quartering away shot entering right behind the front right leg and exiting the left shoulder area. Not good for the meat in the left shoulder but there wasn't time to line up a shot. He piled up right inside the edge of the woods.

The best part was when my brother called me on my cell phone a bit later and asked..."well, did you get one?". I answered "Nope.... I got two!".

Dumbest shot I've done.

At the pistol range (alone luckily!)

Just loaded my Virginia Dragoon 44 mag and hammer was back.

Was getting ready to fire and swinging the pistol up, but wasn't paying attention to where my trigger finger was.

The Virginia Dragoon (when I got it used) and I've also read online that most do have a very light trigger pull.

Accidentally hit the trigger and shot right into the dirt berm in front of me.

Scared the hell out of me... I am careful with my guns and just got distracted for a second.

I am even MORE careful now!

155mm artillery. Two shots. These are primed with 45/70 blanks. Made the whole self propelled vehicle rock back.

Was working in my field on my John Deere tractor when a crow lit in the field about 75 yards away. I stopped the tractor and rested my 2" S&W .22 kit gun over the steering wheel. I shot and killed him dead as wedge.
Was dove hunting this season with my 20 ga. under & over. 3 doves flying straight toward me. Killed 2 with one barrel and the 3rd. one with the other barrel. Witnessed by other hunters on the field.

Best shot

While shootin' prairie dogs in North Dakota, I decided one day to see if I could hit one with my .38 snub-nose, which I always have in my Jeep. So, for kicks, I used the hood and a jacket for a rest while my buddy spotted for me. On the third shot, I nailed a dog at 60 paces. Now I'm a pretty good shot for a 68 year-old, but I tried to repeat it for over a box of cartridges and didn't come close. My "doggin" buddies now call me Wild Bill

Wadded up parking ticket 20 feet into a sidewalk trashcan. The meter maid (whom I hadn’t seen) said “good shot sir and you’ll get one in the mail”.

Actually, it was on a golf course. I teed off and nailed a dove in flight 50 yards out. My ball continued and landed 2 feet pin high. I sank the putt and got two birdies on the same hole.
