It is bad when.....

You have plenty of cash in hand and you cannot buy a P95 for any price. I have looked around locally and simply cannot find one. So I went to my LGS to have him order a P95 for me and he would not take my money because he does not know how long it will take to get one. We are not talking about an AK, AR, or a Glock, just a humble, plain ol' P95 in stainless steel. I am considering using GunsAmerica or the like, but I like to look over what I buy. I may not have a choice though. I guess too many of us remember the Clinton ban.

There is a small gun show this weekend, guess I will have to check it out.

One of my local gunshops has a web site, and they have stainless P95's ready to ship.

RUGER P95 9MM 15RD PISTOL @ Vance Outdoors Inc.

Great place to deal with BTW.

Good for you Dsteele for sharing info! That was nice of you. Kind of the same thing as opening a door for someone at the store. Kudos

I had my "wanter's" out for a long time at my LGS but to no avail. I finally realized that it takes an incredible amount of time to find a particular gun in stock, make sure that it's legal in CA, and be on the phone a little ahead of the next caller getting the last one the distributor has.

This was first seen when I asked for just a full sized stainless 45 ACP. It was never going to happen. So I looked to expand my revolver snubbie collection and even that was impossible. I ended up getting a used model 60 the dealer had and it had been ported so a quick home brew action job and some new grips and I was in business, but I still wanted a couple other guns I had seen including the elusive 45.

Impact Guns came through in a pinch on everything that I was looking for. I got an SP101, then the 3" GP100 and then finally found a stainless 45ACP through Bud's Gun Shop. It took a lot of looking on my part but in the end I ended up succeeding with all the guns I had been looking for. Smithy.

I found my gun today...in Iowa. It should be here soon. I really didn't want to use GunsAmerica, I wanted to support my LGS, but desperate time call for desperate measures.

Guns, let us say, good guns are few and far between. Not sure what the driving force is now. It can't be the end of the Mayan calender, so it's got to be lame duck runs of Obama. What ever the case (for the gun grabbers) they couldn't have done any more positive a thing to create this much in sales. More than any discounts or advertising campaign's they have sparked sales into the stratosphere.

My "must have" recent revolvers were all answered through Impact Guns, but the stainless 45 I wanted (Sig Sauer 1911) I could only find at Bud's. I paid for a place in line to get one and did while I was paying off my layaway. In the middle of that however I saw how quickly it took for Bud's to show that they had my gun in stock to being totally swamped and sold out of the item. I'm glad I was able to finish my current collection with quality pieces from name brand manufacturers.

I can well imagine that some of the lesser know makers (read cheap guns) are making a bundle during this time as well, but you do get what you pay for. I'm just glad I paid for Smith and Wesson, Ruger, and Sig Sauer. Smithy.

I'm hoping I have better luck with the GP100 that I'll be buying next. I'm thinking being a revolver it's not on any current ban list, so I might just have some luck at finding one minus the gouging.

The two things that gave me heartache with that quest was first I was looking for a Stainless gun. Saw a few blued ones cross my path until I found the stainless one I was looking for. The next problem was that I was looking for a fixed sight, 3" barrel version of the GP100. Again, I saw some six inchers cross my path before I finally found the model I was looking for. Part of that problem might have been due to the Wiley Clapp version that was also available. Can't own that one in California, but I think that a few folks were attempting a poor man's Wiley Clapp by buying a standard stainless 3" fixed sight GP100. The one thing I have never understood is the fact that business who do a lot of their business on GunBroker will always have those seemingly hard to get models. They of course charge accordingly. Impact Guns came through for me on this and when I had a SP101 in mind. Dealer's won't like these because you're basically paying retail to get the gun, not the wholesale that your dealer could have got if he found one through his normal chains of delivery.

I had a big trade worked out with my dealer to get me both the SP101 and the GP100 in exchange for my pimped out SRH 44 magnum. He simply could NOT find any of the two. I found the SP at Impact Guns, but he had to pay retail so instead of two guns for one, I ended up with a one gun for one deal. He did pitch in several boxes of ammo and speed loaders, etc. When it gets to the wholesale level, that's when you see the terms "Allocated" or "unavailable", or "Waiting lists". Plain and simple, it's harder to find one through a normal distributor network. Smithy.

You got it right Smithy, the politicians have done more to boost gun sales recently than any advertising department, incentive, or technological development ever has. I cannot remember ever having such a hard time buying a gun. Granted, I was not old enough to buy a gun on my own when the first ban took place, but do remember how crazy it was at my LGS when Obama got elected the first time.

I've been trying to find a Kel-Tec PF9 locally for awhile.. I want to buy one but want to feel it in my hands for fit. I've got larger hands and I'm not sure of the fit as the LC9 IS A little too small for comfort. But no ones got any.

Luckily, I have owned and shot the p95 before so I know what I am getting. The only difference is my old one had a different trigger guard and no rail. It is too bad you can't get your hands on a PF9 to see how it fits. Could you maybe to a range and rent one?
