Alright, I'm curious and just want to get some opinions. SR1911 OR SP101 4.2" in .357 mag. If you could ONLY aquire one of the two which whould you choose?

I have been a revolver guy for 45 years up until last September when I brought home an SR1911...

I only had one question for myself, "why hadn't I done this sooner???" Don't get me wrong I love my revolvers and the SP101 is a terrific firearm but if I had to make the choice you're trying to make I'd pick the SR1911.

But you do what you feel is best for your shooting needs...

I have an SP 2". If someone were to offer me trade on a SR1911... I'd be down reloading more .45 that same night. :)

The SP-101 is an unfair choice. How about a GP-100 4" in .357 mag instead?

Flagship revolver vs. flagship semi-auto... now that's leveling the playing field a bit more.

Having said that, If I could have only one, I gotta go with the GP-100. It has more legitimate uses, camping, hiking, etc., more ammo choices, as well as being a safe and totally reliable HD gun, plus I will still be able to work it even after I get old and sodded. :)

No contest: 1911 of any good quality over a equally good quality small revolver.

Since I would then only own one gun I'd want to be as well armed as possible and I think a 1911 would serve better than a small revolver. (I have both).

Well, the problem is that I love them both! There's just something about the SP that just gives me butterflies in my stomach. Don't get me wrong, the SR is an amazing gun, and is equally breathtaking. I go shooting with two good buddies a majority of the time, and they both have the stock SR1911, so I think that plays into my decision as well.
Another thing I like about the SP is that it is a viable carry option (when our state decides what hoops we'll have to jump through).
Decisions, decisions.
