| I love being the loudest gun at the range.
Took my buddy with me to the shooting range. He has an old Charter Arms .38 he inherited and had never shot and I took along my .357 Montado and my S&W .38. We started out shooting the .38's and then after a few runs I loaded up the .357. I let my buddy take first crack at it and I'm standing back watching him shoot, as he fires the first shot the two guys in the lane to our right and the guy and his girlfriend on our left all four JUMP at the same time. I step up to shoot and I hear one of them ask my friend, "What's he shooting?". .357 he says. Every time I take her to the range it turns heads.

Thats how my old reloads of 125gr over 12gr of Blue Dot was like in my SP101. Loud and flashy, they were fun! Darn warnings on 125s and BD....

Got a 30 cal m1 in a 7 1'2" Blackhawk...Never ever heard anything near like it. It really get's the attention...big boom, huge flash and strangely small recoil but it does go off.

First time I shot my T/C Encore pistol in .270 Winchester I used the pistol range. Got a lot of "interest" from the rest of the folks. Then the range officer told me to move it to the rifle range......

I'd have to say that a Ruger Alaskan in .454 Casull might take the cake so far! The first time I shot one, a few couples who had just left the range heard it from outside in the parking lot...and had to come back in to see what the heck that noise was!
Now, whenever we have a few 'kids' popping off 9mm or .40 rounds...and bragging about it...I'll go next door and squeeze a few off rounds and say 'Now, what were you shooting again?' Then I'll show 'em a Hornady 240 or 300 grain XTP JHP and talk about how it's my EDC, etc...typically they'll just stand there with an 'oh sh!T' look on their face and not say anything. I'll say a few more lines about pee-shooters and starter guns...my friends'll be in the background just laughing their arse's off at 'em!
The Range Officer is a friend of mine and he'll come and get me when he knows that I'm in the store and he has a few of those 'kids' in the range. It makes for a good time and sure does quiet down a few of those the loud mouth bragger's!
Dang that thing's loud!!!

I used to have a Savage in .300 Win Mag that had a muzzle brake on it. That weapon was loud as hell, and would literally rattle the tin roof of the range I sometimes went to. It did not get shot much, just enough to verify zero. |

My Beowulf never fails to attract attention. The muzzle blast has been known to blow the hat off the guy next to me. |

I don't care for being next to a cannon at the range. If I have a choice of benches, I try to get near smaller caliber shooters. On the lucky days I'm alone or nearly, I'll sometimes skip the earmuffs with my .22s.

Got placed next to a couple of elderly women at the range shooting a .22 rifle one day. I Starting shooting my ruger P345 and got the dirtiest look from the ladies. They continued shooting and after a while I got the AR out. They left. |
