New fun gun

Was visiting my brother-in-law who is in bad health when he asked me to go thru his ammunition and take all that I wanted as he is getting rid of his firearm collection. As I was going thru his collection I found a M1 carbine that looked pretty rough, told him I was interested in it. He told me that his grandfather had given it to him and it would not fire. Told him that I had a friend that was a gunsmith and he could check it out. I brought the carbine home took it apart could see nothing obvious except that it was extremely dirty and had a lot of carbon built up in and around the chamber, cleaned and lubed it, took it to the ranch and put 50 rounds through it. That little carbine has no recoil and is a hoot to shoot and will now become my travel long gun replacing my mini 14.

Gun is an Inland model manufactured in 1943. I was born in 1942.

Wow.....the guys on the CMP forum would be foaming at the mouth. Good for you! Great Find. My Dad has a winchester sitting in his safe, she'll go with my '41 M1 very well.

Nice! I've wanted an M1 Carbine for years but have pretty much put it on my "probably unattainable" list. Never figured I would find one in my budget. Glad you could get it going!
