In our recent travels we payed a weeks visit with my wifes sister in Jacksonville, NC. During the course of that visit we visited with her son (my nephew) and his son (my grand nephew) a very interesting 12 year old. My nephew is a former marine, a former base police officer at Camp Lejeune, and currently in the role of a purchasing agent at the base.

So as would be expected, a visit to his house one night was delightful because we talked guns and I had the good fortune to view his extensive gun collection. I also had the opportunity to chat with my grand nephew about his gun and extensive knife collection. He is in the process of building a forge as he wants to get involved in knife making. He showed me all of his knifes and the one gun that he owned. A .177 caliber Ruger Blackhawk Elite Air Rifle. I looked it over and remarked what a fun gun that would be to own as it would give hours of pleasure at virtually zero cost plinking and varmint hunting. He agreed, but inasmuch as he lived in the city limits he hadn't shot it that much, the single shot was "boring" and was now interested in building an AR15 type in .22 cal similar to the one his dad owns. I thought that was a typical attention span for a 12 year old. I told him "if you're ever interested in selling it, I'd be interested". Well sure enough...I hear from him the very next day...he is most certainly interested in selling it. I asked him what he paid for it and what he felt it was worth now that it was a couple years old. We negotiated a price and I said we'd be over in a couple of nights to go out for dinner on our last night in town and finalize the deal then. We went over to their house and I inspected it once again and I just decided to give him what he paid for it.

So now I have this great little air rifle that I put a few rounds thru when I was unloading it from the car. What a "hoot to shoot" and it's amazingly fast at 1200 fps. Once the weather warms up I'm going to spend a day with it target shooting and general all around plinking. I think this is going to be a fun gun to own and it will make a great compnion to my Crossman 761XL.
