SKS for outside or TEOTWAWKI.
Mossberg 500 with eight 00 in the mag and six slugs on the side for indoors.
SP101 .357mag or Beretta PX4 9mm for intrusion of personal space.

M&P15 and either Glock 21 or M&P 9, can't decide which. Ok, both then.

I have been amazed at all the great choices forum members use to defend the castle. Everything from pistols, rifles, and shotguns to belt-fed full auto. I feel good knowing my fellow Ruger Forum friends are well armed, even the Jedi Knights. Thanks to everyone that has contributed to this thread. It has been very interesting for sure!

I have the super sweet situation that if something goes bad and I'm in my room then I am shooting straight towards my daughter's bedrooms. WILL NOT USE A RIFLE. And will NOT shoot unless fired upon if facing that direction. Light 45 ACP or 6 shot from a shotgun. AR 15 for everything else or Redhawk. I also live in a rural region.

Never leave home without them:

Ruger 188 Mini 14 /modified, Beretta 92FS G-model, and my tactical slippers.

If Im inside, it will be the 9mms, a Just Right Carbine, or my CMMG MK9. If I have to leave the house, it will be one of the ARs, or the Kel-Tec SU16C

My 10 point plan - in roughly order of preference:

1) car keys (take as much of 2-10 as possible and get as far away as possible)
2) win 1200 12 ga
3) rem 870 20 ga
4) KT Sub2k 9mm (4, 33 rnd mags)
5) SR9c
6) Glock 17
7) LC9s
8) 2 LCPs
9) assorted rimfires
10) running shoes (although the car may be a solid choice again after unloading 2-9)

I don't have a real rifle (Sub2k doesn't count), so either I get out of town or wait until it's close range. First choice is always to get away if possible.

Have either a suppressed Beretta 92F or suppressed Glock 21 by the bed (Glock has WML).
Six mags each are handy. One for me. One for guest.

Either will get me to rifles. All rifles are SBRs (except Tavor X95). All are ready and suppressed with red dot optics on. Batteries changed annually.

Failing that, I have a katana/wakizashi (live blades, not wallhanger crap) above the fireplace.

I'm on the second floor. Both kids are on third floor overlooking great room where they can set up an effective crossfire. They both have 22LR suppressed SBRs and both have gen4 Glock 19s so they can share mags.

Yes. ATF NFA Branch got a lot of money out of me these past few years.

If it goes bump in the night, and I'm in the bedroom, in this order:
Glock 19 with +P's
1911 w/ +P's
M&P .40S&W
Sig Pro .40S&W
XDs 9mm w/ +P's (every day carry)
M&P 9c
Glock43
SR22

If I'm elsewhere in the house, look out. I only get more well armed.

Hopefully, they only get used for hunting and paper punching though.

If things get bad, they're going to get a lot worse, if you visit my place.

Currently my favorite SHTF gun is a VEPR in 7.62X54R.

Somewhat like an AKM on steroids.

Boo-yah, it ROCKS!

My first weapon to grab would be my glock 37. If the fight moves outside I will stay inside and grab my high point 9 millimeter carbine. I choose these weapons for home defense for a few reasons.
I am well trained and very familiar with both. If my adrenaline gets pumping I know I will be relying on muscle memory so I don't switch my home defense plan. The same goes for my EDC.
Both weapons are very accurate and extremely reliable. Both of them have earned my full trust that they will function and fire if needed.
I don't have a lot of money invested in either one, they are not family heirlooms, they are not fashion statement. If the law gets involved they will be confiscated and my heart will not be broken. They will however get replaced easily.
