I have a suggestion for those that are hunkering down and waiting for us to come to you.

Keep a spare door key in your bedroom. Tell dispatch you have a key and will toss it to arriving officers. This way you won't risk yourself letting us in. And when we get there we have an idea of what room you are in. Less people going through the house is better.

Yes, that is a definite NO to your question. Laugh all you want, but not all of us want (or need to be) tacti-cool. I learned an important lesson ten years ago that has stuck with me. I was a counselor at an adventure camp for boys with juvenile diabetes. A local sheriff's department had us over to their training facility and the SWAT team put on a demonstration. The highlight of my day was being allowed to clear their shoot house using a 9mm Glock modified to shoot Simunitions. I did great downstairs. I was moving, slicing the pie, making good hits. I was King of the World. I felt like I was tightening up on the stairs, knowing someone was waiting at the top. As I rounded a corner there was a big Biker and a small blonde lady...and I dropped the biker with a center mass hit. Only then did I perceive the gun in the woman's hand. I'd killed a hostage...a sobering moment for sure. Thankfully, it was only training and the SWAT officer behind me was grinning ear to ear. It made me realize the incredible responsibility you assume when you clear a building. My circumstances allow me to hunker down with my wife, and anyone kicking in our door gets it. No questions or decisions needed.

I met my wife in a hardware store. She still sells hardware today. She put Schlage push-button locks on all our exterior doors. I can give a 911 operator a four digit code to open any door.

Night stand gun is a Glock 30 SF...keep an extra 10-round mag and a mag light beside it.

Shotgun is the wife's Remington 870 Tactical in 20 GA ~ stoked with #3 shot...it has a tritium front night sight on it.

Rifle is a Marlin 336Y .30-30 lever-action...it's nuthin' fancy...in .30 caliber!

Our bedroom is the first one down the hallway...if I can cover that, everyone of importance is behind me!

Depends when the smelly stuff hits the rotating oscillating machine. One place would be the Glock 19 Gen III and the LMT SPM and street sweeper. Other place would be the GP100 3" stainless.

At home; a .380 Colt Auto or .38 Spec S&W snubby. I don't want to kill my neighbor with over penetration? When I am out and about; a .40 S&W Charter Arms or .357 Mag S&W.

I guess in that case, I'd be using my SCAR 17S. I consider it, along with my AR-15 with SlideFire stock my go to guns for zombie apocalypses.

GP100 1715 on my hip. But if a huge and determined mob comes by, my running sneakers might be the most important thing in my closet. And will keep my 357 on my hip.
