I am very impressed with Stangzilla's collection, and Chowser51's supressed MPX w/ a brace has made me think I really do need a firearm in 9mm. I understand those who have objections to long guns for home defense. Everyone has different circumstances. Only my wife and I live in my house, and we sleep in the same bed. I am only interested in defending our bedroom citadel by any means necessary. I have no plans to do any room clearing. I'll come out of my room when the flashing blue lights arrive out front to let them in. The pros can do the clearing. The long gun also is comforting since packs of dogs or the occasional black bear come through my yard. Country folk have more than just two-legged thugs to consider.

for SHTF, in addition to my AK or AR, my sidearm would be either my Springfield XDm or Ruger American in 45acp

Bedside box is my carry pistol, Kahr MK9 with spare mag, and the SP101 with .38+p' for Mrs. Aqualung to provide rear security.

If it looks like riots outside (for a while there, a distinct possibility, as I live across the street from a Philly PD District...Figured some BLM activity might take place), it's time to load up the AR556 and M1 Carbine...

If it gets really bad...I'm packing up and heading to Tacky's place...

With as many people that have stated that exact same thing, I just may have a militia or army quartered at my place, me and the wife have no problem with that at all. Just bring water, food and ammo with your firearms of choice. Oh yeah and let me know your coming that would be a wise idea.

For me, the shotgun is the artillery piece of my home defense battery, to be used from fixed locations and on pre-plotted fields of fire. The handgun is for investigating bumps in the night. Mine is a 4 inch S&W Model 25-5 .45 Colt. EDC is either the Smith, my GP100, or a 1911, depending on my mood.

GP100 .357 for it's stopping power AND for it's intimidation factor.

I've got two 9mm pistols and .357 mag revolver around the house but if sheet were to hit the fan I'd go with my 12 gauge pump.
I've way more time behind the stock of a shotgun then any handgun............................
like 60 plus years worth..................so it's ingrained in the old brain on how to use it!
