Walmart OC

Every time I go into a local Walmart I see folks open carrying. Within a minute or two Iíll see someone. One trip I stopped counting at five (only because I was holding something in one hand and ran out of fingers on the other). The intent of this post is not to debate the pros/cons of OC, but to let you know some of the things IĎve seen that have left me scratching my head. Iíll credit the last guy I saw with the straw that broke the camelís back that led to this post.
The Last Guy: Saw him coming toward me carrying on his hip in some type of retention holster. This got my attention because itís the first time Iíve ever seen someone OC with at least a clue about the importance of some form of retention. My delight and surprise turned to disappointment when after he passed I noticed there was no magazine in the weapon. Suppose he was thinking he would just throw it at someone if necessary. Maybe he just forgot.
Rambo: John was carrying a full size 1911 in a serpa. It was sweet. But the first thing that got my attention was the bowie knife strapped to his leg. Guess itís an escalation of force kind of thing with him.
Pig-Pen: This guy was dirty. Head to toe. And so was his pistol. Dust. Grime. Maybe cobwebs.
Badger: Concealed carry badge on his belt right in front of his pistol. Not sure what message he was sending, but at least he was clean.
Metro: This guy looked good and he knew it. Seemed completely oblivious to the pistol he was carrying small of the back in a high ride holster. I could have taken that one away from him with my pinky. In all fairness to Walmart though, this guy was in Target.
Thanks for the entertainment fellas.

When I see someone open carry, it is always a redneck looking guy with sleeves ripped off his shirt and a full size pistol in some kind of kydex paddle holster. I do see people with minimally concealed handguns from time to time, high rise holster under a jacket typically.

I would applaud their efforts to exercise their full rights and not cower to the meek who whisper such vomit at the sight of those with bigger testicles. Making fun of people isn't a very wise thing to do. I'm sure you didn't mean for this to be a poke fun at them where they can't respond or defend their choices.

I'm equally sure he didn't mean to poke ..

Here's my definition of "redneck".

I'm southin' grown -- that is supposed to be capitalized, ain't it?

Youíre rightÖ.. And wrong.

Poking fun at Rambo and Badger. They were gtg, and I applaud their efforts as well.

The others are, IMO, more of a danger to themselves and others than anything else. The Last Guyís unloaded weapon is useless. Pig-penís dirty weapon has the potential to malfunction when needed. Metroís weapon was woefully unsecured and easy to take. I would rather they leave the sheep with no balls to defend themselvesÖÖ or be defended by Rambo and Badger.

The kind of guy who would open carry 1911 without a magazine probably graduated from carrying a potatoe in the front of their shorts.

I don't poke fun at them, but i'm certainly not going to compliment their stupidity. I've seen a jerk carrying an AR slung across his back into a Safeway in a senior citizen community. Headed right for the beer aisle.

Screw his rights, he probably caused more than one heart attack in the old ladies shopping there. Did he ever hear of situational awareness? Self defense slung across your back? Self defense in a place where the average daily age is over 80? Ignorant?

Fact is some people don't have the sense to properly carry a weapon, and I, for one, don't want to be near them when they screw up and shoot somebody, bad guy or not. If they don't want to be laughed at, do it right, not just because they can!

OC can be entertaining. This post was! I see it now and again here. Most guys seemed uninformed and have holsters without appropriate security/retention. I stick to CC to minimize the faux pas...
