You have to leave, and you can only take ONE gun with you...

I just thought it would be fun to do a little survey on an unlikely scenario. ..

Ok everyone, anarchy has just occurred and there is no government body to restore order any time soon at all. Youve got to put your whole life in a backpack and get out of town and you can only bring ONE of your guns with you...what is it going to be?

Rules:
1. Bunkering in your house with all your guns isnt allowed (that would ruin the fun of the questionnaire LOL)
2. It has to be a HANDGUN...you can talk about a rifle that you WOULD bring, but it wont count so your handgun choice has to be assuming you have no rifle
3. You will have sufficient ammo to last you through the entire span of the chaos until order is eventually restored (even if in real life you dont...)

Ill go first...I choose my Ruger SP101 with a 3" barrel.

Why? Because a 357 mag should be enough to stop most of the threats i might encounter on 2-4 legs, as well as take some for food if necessary. Its a stainless steel revolver so the upkeep on it will be minimal/almost null. Its small enough i can easily lug it around without much trouble at all.

Lets hear it from yall

SP101. Reliable, reasonably accurate, big enough to scare people off without (hopefully) needing to be used, powerful enough to defend against any animal in my part of the country. And it just so happens to use the same ammo as my 77/357, which would make for an ideal long gun to carry too.

Although I do have to note, I recently made an impulse buy on a like new stainless Taurus PT92 (used to have the blued model, one of the few guns I regret selling) and it is moving up in the ranks every time I shoot it. And 9mm is powerful enough for threats in west/central Kentucky. No bears, no cougars are ever sighted here. Coyotes, dogs, people are the primary things you would need one for defense from.

Probably be my 4 5/8" convertible Blackhawk. 3 ammo choices and durable as a tank.
Edit: didn't see the ammo part, but probably still choose the Blackhawk, or GP100 6" although the GP is a bit bulky for carrying.

If we are not talking about rifles, I would bring my CZP07 in 40SW. Because I have a bunch of 40SW ammo.

If we are talking about rifles, I would bring my GP100. Because the rifle I would grab would be my 77/357.

My Redhawk 41mag. More push-em-up than a 357mag, better manners than a 44mag.

Beretta full-size PX4 9mm. Reliable and I have 14 magazines for it.
My first choice though would be 8 round Mossberg 500 with a mix of bird, buck, and slug. Plus mine has survival gear in the stock.

Probably my P95. It will shoot any ammo I put in it, and it would double as a nice hammer if I ever needed it too

I would take a 9mm, probably a glock 19. I need to think where i'm gonna get ammo if my lot is exhausted....off the dead....it's highly unlikely military kia will be carrying 357 mag or .40 ammo and civilians, i'd hazard a guess 9mm will be pretty predominant on them also. not a romantic answer but the way I think.

Glock 21

When you factor in reliability, capacity, power and durability nothing else in my safe even comes close but I wouldn't choose a handgun for this scenario. My choice would be a lightweight centerfire carbine. The choices for me are a Colt LE6920 or a Century AK47. I'd be happy with either one but if you made me choose I think I'd pick the AK. Up until a month ago I couldn't have imagined me uttering those words. However, now that I own one I'm really impressed with the AK platform. I wish I'd been open minded enough to investigate them earlier in life. I'm late to the party but I'm hooked.

Same as CaliforniaKid: 92FS, for the same reasons. Rifle would be my trusty Mini-14.
