Blackhawk .45 convertible. Because it's my favorite to shoot, since I am to be displaced abandoning my possessions I'd want my best pipe/tobacco, gun/ammo to ease my pain.

If I could also have a rifle, it would be an AK. They rarely EVER fail to cycle, regardless conditions. In this scenario, your "favorite" is likely not the best choice. What is most functional, easy to carry, easy to reload and has stopping power.
The only autoloader pistol I have is my High Standard Victor. .22LR is underrated but doesn't have the punch I'd like to have in dire straights.

I'm not dumb enough to travel in daylight openly if the s*#t hit he fan. I'm digging in and waiting it out. Being armed is only a facet of surviving hard times. I believe the SA in .44mag would suit my approach very well.

If it were a rifle my M1 Garand would suit the bill perfectly.

Without a doubt my Ruger P90 in 45acp. Out of all my handguns I am the most accurate with it.

I possess the ability to access and acknowledge what's happening all around me and all over the country.

To many, that classifies me as one of those "Whacked-Out Prepper" types

Given the rules of the question, I'd opt for a Glock 21.

Carry On

Only one, hey?

Well, you didn't place any restrictions on brand, color, or accessories

^^ this except for the choice of 9mm handguns, for me it would be my SR9 with the fire-sights and tweaked trigger!

If I could also grab a rifle, it would be my Mini-G in 308...
