About 30 years ago now, I bought my 1st handgun. Beretta 92SB pre government model. Still have it too. Anyway was about 2 weeks from buying it from a friend until he could take me shooting. I spent alot of time learning my new gun and felt very comfortable with it. All except I had never fired a pistol before. Shot .22LR rifles a lot and a few 30/30's too. Finally get to the outdoor range and it is my turn to shoot. I am very nervous because I have no frame of reference on how much kick back I am going to feel. Watching TV was no help. Some shoot 1 handed with huge cannons with no problem and some shoot a little .38 and it knocks them on their *** (gotta love Hollywood) Severl times I bring the gun up to target only to start laughing and have to stop to compose myself. I finally shoot 2 handed bracing for the worst only to find out it was no big deal. LOL!! Now for the best part. After a few rounds I am now billy bad *** and go to reholster the gun and I don't need no stinking safety. Yup I fire the gun down at my feet! now it takes me a few moments to realize what I had done and I still had a gun in single action mode aimed at my feet. I put the saftey on and holster the gun. All my friends are asking if I'm alright. I look down at my feet and there is a white strip of clean rubber on the outside edge of my right sneaker where the bullet had grazed my shoe as it hit the ground. LESSON LEARNED!!! Once the guys knew I was okay, they were laughing their asses off at me.

Sorry for the long story.

Myself, that isn't something I would be laughing about. (
To their defense, they did make sure I was okay first and did discuss what I did wrong.
