What was your first Ruger, and was it the first gun that you owned? My first gun was a Savage 12ga magnum single shot that just plain hurt like blazes. My Dad bought it for me so I knew better than to complain but I didn't shoot unless I had to. My first Ruger was a .357 Blackhawk that I bought new when I was just out of high school in the '60s. Them .357s were mighty impressive when I could afford to buy them. They also leaded the barrel up something awful. All that was available at the time were half jacketed bullets. I shot a lot of .38 Special reloads because that was what I could afford. Jack |

My first gun that 'I' owned was the .357 BH. Now, dad helped with the paperwork on that one. As I recall the first one I bought on my own was the .44 SS Super Black Hawk when I turned 21.... Still own the blued .357. As said in other places, the .357 went everywhere in the hills, down streams with me, varminting, under seat of car/truck, etc.. in my younger days...

My first Ruger was a new model Super Blackhawk that I bought in Alaska in the late 70's. My first gun, well, this is a hard one since I grew up in a household full of guns but I guess it was an Armenius 22lr revolver that I bought when I was still in high school - 68 or 69. Dale |

First gun purchase was a Ruger Single Six 22 w/22 mag cylinder in the early 90's. Since then I've purchased a M77 RL in 308, Redhawk, just this past week a GP100. The first two have gotten game for me and enjoyed time at the range w/the last two. Looking to expand my Ruger lineup with and RSI and Red Label as funds come available. I don't think a person can ever have to many Rugers.

My first Ruger was a Mini 14 - I bought it used and it had a scope mounted on it and came with two 30 round magazines. I had to sell it when getting divorced from my 1st wife. It was not my first gun. |

My first Ruger was a KP95DCpr, Second SR9. I have had several other pistols only 2 Rugers. Long guns Winchester, Remington, Mauser, Springfield, Marlin and SKS H&R. Ikick myself when I think how many Ive had and sold. When looking back. Knowing I should have kept them. Still have about ten or so. My second wife is a lot better than my first. Not telling me not to buy that because I have enough. My wife says we have the money buy it. Just dont stop her when she wants something.

My 1st Ruger was a blued Mark II with a 5 1/2" bull barrel I bought around 1987. Loved the gun, sadly I sold it cause my wife was worried about having a handgun in the house with small children. It was my 1st handgun (but not my 1st gun) and the only gun I have ever sold. Once the kids were older and could go shooting with me it was replaced. Bottom one on the left. |

My first gun was a single shot H&R 20 gauge. That was about 40 years ago. My first Ruger was a SS .357 Blackhawk, purchased in 1985. The first two trips to the range with factory ammo made me think I got a lemon. Got some dies and switched to lead cast bullets. It became my favorite shooter, and still is today. McP |

My first Ruger which was also my first pistol was bought with blood money. The pistol sold for $34 or $35 and I did not have the money. So My fiance and I drove to Lake Charles where they were paying $25 a pint for rare blood. Well, they were going to take mine and I told them that they had to take Susie's also. They said no so I told them that they could not have mine either. They relented and took both of us and gave us $50 and we drove back home and bought the Mark I Bull Barrel and some bullets with our blood money. Great memory. Hank.

P95 was my first and only Ruger. I sold it to help fund a Glock purchase. Sometimes I wish I still had that one, but I needed a concealed carry weapon and the Ruger was just too big.

Desert Dawg, Ah yes, a walnut stocked carbine. Very nice. I have one a couple of years newer. Funny how we look at the prices that we paid then and think that they were cheap, not remembering how long it took to put that money together on what we were paid in those days. Jack |

When I was 12 my dad brought home a new S&W Mod 53 in 22 Jet. This was a big purchase back then. Anyway, I don't recall if he even got the first six shots off before the cylinder locked-up because the heavily tapered cases liked to set back hard against the gun's recoil plate. I do remember he was more than a little pissed-off, and promptly returned it to the shop. A few days later he had a Ruger Single Six with the convertable cylinder in 22WMR. Thats the first time I saw a Ruger. Not quite a dozen years later, I bought my first, a Blackhawk in 357 Mag which I still have.

My first Ruger was .30 M1 Carbine caliber, 7-1/2" Blackhawk. I paid $93.00 for it, NIB, in 1972. It's a wonder that I can even hear it thunder, now. |

I never got a gun as a kid, but my brother did. When nobody was home, I'd shoot that 22 rifle until just a few rounds were left so I woulndn't get caught. If I used it all, my brother would know, right? I was never caught. My first gun was a Ruger .22 pistol back in '74. Don't know what it was but couldn't have been expensive sisnce I had no money then. Only shot a little then sold it for $25. After hearing you guys on the forum, I wish I'd kept it. Anyone know what it might have been? Had to be close to $100 new in '74 but I don't have a clue. It was a semi-auto, seems I remeber nine shots. |

My first Ruger and handgun was a NIB Security Six with a 6" BBL. That simple purchase started me down the long road of Ruger addiction. It was rugged, accurate and reliable. I had it for over 25 years and traded it on an SP101 that is with me most all the time. I had purchased a GP-100 and felt the SS could go although I hated to part with my old nightstand gun.
