My first Ruger was a New Model Single Six 6 1/2 SS convertable...What a great little gun. I've aquired a few more since..LOL..The first gun I ever owned was a Mossberg model 500 in .410 guage..Not the finest gun ever made but hey, at 11 yrs old and a gift from Dad, there was nothing finer. That gun got ripped off and I still get pissed thinking about some low-life cuttn' the barrel down on my bird gun.

My first Ruger was a 5.5" stainless Single Six my dad got me from Montgomery Wards for $179.00 in about 1977 and it was soon followed up by a stainless Police Service Six in 1978. Still have the Service Six, wished I still had the Single Six. |

Didn't get around to getting a gun until I was 33 but had been thinking about if for a while looking at some magazine back in the mid seventies I had bought with tests and pictures of various revolvers I seem to recall written by Phil Engeldrum. First gun I had was a Dan Wesson 15VH6. Really wanted a stainless one so got the next year a 4" stainless Security Six. Eventually wound up having an action job done on it by a local gunsmith which came out really great but he put a deep gouge in the side of the crane. If not for that would not have sold it to an acquaintance that wanted it. Really missing it I got a GP-100 which had just come out and which is nice after all these years but not as light and compact as the Six Series. Note to self: get another Six Series!

My first gun was a Ruger 10/22. Still have it today and shoots like a dream. I have never adjusted the sights and can hit a spent .22 shell off a tree branch from 100 feet without a problem.

My first gun was a Ruger MKII Standard, blued with a 6" bbl. It was stolen, later found out by my room mate. Replaced it with a MKII Standard in stainless with a 6" bbl. Lost it in pawn. Now have the MKIII Hunter, with the 5.5" bbl. It isn't going anywhere! My first revolver was a Ruger Security Six. Jon |

My first gun was a 20 guage Ithaca pump with which I enjoyed many hunting trips with my dad. I now have his Belgin made Browning A-5. My first Ruger was Mark III 22/45. I've added 3 other Rugers since that purchase and enjoy shooting them all with my 18 year old son.

My first Ruger was either a 10/22 or my Mini-14 in 222. I am not sure which. I still have the 222 and liked the Mini enough that I purchased another in 223 |

My first Ruger was a P97. Big and heavy but utterly reliable. I kind of wish I still had it.

First gun and Ruger was a 10/22, a Christmas gift back in like 1994 when I was 14.......it must have 50,000 rounds through it and still going strong. First Ruger handgun was a GP100 I bought for myself last winter, just to see what Ruger was all about, still have it and it led to a Speed and Service Six! |

First gun? Mine was a High Standard AR-15. First Ruger? New Model Blackhawk, .45 Colt. 5 1/2" barrel. As far as pistols go I owned a 9x18 and a .38 Super at that point and decided I had to have something bigger to go along with it. LOTS bigger.

must have been 1989. still have it of course. I take it to the range every time I go with 10 mags filled. I suspect it has had well over 200,000 rounds through it. gets a cleaning every year if break-free alone doesn't fix the jamming! LOL |

My first gun was a 6" GP100. That is the first gun that I owned, but not the first gun that I shot - M16, then my Dad's .22 rifle.

Initially had my heart set on a 3" GP100 for every day carry and all around shooting but couldn't locate one. Ended up with a 3" SP101 and couldn't be happier! It shoots like a big gun but carries like a small one adn conceals with no problem.

Ruger 10/22 carbine model from walmart. Had to exchange four or five of them because none of them could hit squat.....we were drifting sights all over the place to try and get it on paper decent. Finally I pulled the barrel for a green mountain bull barrel and a boyds stock. Tack driver.....later I discovered that usually the barrel band was too tight on these guns and the action screw was usually over torqued....could have been part of my problem, but I didnt know it at the time and I never went back to the stock configuration. Amazing what you can learn on the internet these days. haha!

First Ruger was a mini-14.The only gun I ever bought new,the most expensive gun I have ever bought and it's a toss up weather that or a raven .25cal. was/is the worst gun I have ever bought.......the raven was more accurate in it's intended range and then some but would break it's firing pin often, the mini functions flawlesly but if a 6 inch group is the best you can do on a good day if you are also very lucky at 50 yards then who cares how it functions.....The raven cost me $30 and I sold it for $50.the mini cost me $425 and I still have it,going to hack and wack on it one of these days but for now it's home defence and is perfect for that role. First gun was a Savage 99 in .243.It's what my dad let me use when I first started deer hunting and later gave to me when I turned 18.The first gun I bought was a H&R Shikari 44mag. Single shot break action rifle with a brass telescoping cleaning rod under the barrel.I have only sold/traded 3 guns in my life and the shikari is the only one I regret getting rid of.It was simple, accurate enough for deer and yard work, quiet compared to the centerfire rifles I have now and it would of been great for the wife to plink with. Some of you are probably wondering why I am on this sight if I hate my first Ruger.I went looking for a 22lr revolver last year, could not find one for a decent price and came home with a 357 blackhawk. It became more accurate in my hands then my mini to at least 100 yards in a short period of time, known for flawless function and just a cool single action that feels like a real gun in your hand and was also $100 cheaper then any 22 revolver I saw that day.My brotherinlaw always had Ruger revolvers, from his 44mag redhawk down to a single six and they were always accurate and dependable and fun.If I ever buy another Ruger rifle it will probably be a 10/22,no intrest in any of there centerfires.Savage holds my intrest in that department. |
