My first ever handgun was a Bearcat. I was probably 15 or so years old. I had a really nice cowboy holster and gunbelt made out of top quality leather. I decided that I wanted some money to buy a Fender Stratocaster, so I let my dad sell the Bearcat so I could buy the Strat. At the time it seemed like a good idea. Now, not so much. I miss that gun and I am now on the lookout for another one to replace it!

Rugers I let go without regret:
1. An early P85 in 9mm. I think Ruger was still working the bugs out with that model. Traded it for my first BP rifle.
2. P90 in .45. Shot ok, then made the mistake of shooting a 1911. Traded for a Kimber.
3. .44 carbine. Traded for a sweet semi custion 6.5 Swede.

The ones gone that I regret:
1. .270 tang safety RS
2. A Super Blackhawk that was never mine. A relative had it and the gun just felt right shooting it. He sold it, not knowing I was interested in it.

Not to worry. Still plenty of Rugers in the safe, with room for more.

I've sold or traded a few I regret now. The one that haunts me the most was trading in a LNIB 7 1/2" S/S Redhawk in 41mag.

A hawkeye .256 mag. I once had a very early NICKLE single six with genuine ruger stag grips. I know ruger claimed to never build one. My best friend was a early fast draw contestant in the big bear days. He claimed to have seen a identical one given as a prize. I surmise probley some commitee had them altered by someone for prizes. I also had the first .41 mag I ever seen, and the first convertable 45 colt and .45 acp dual clyinders.

My SRH (7.5 barrel) in .480. I sold it 'cause it was just too darn expensive to shoot. Now I cast and load my own.

My very first gun, a single six before the convertible was available. I believe it was 1958 ..Paid about $69.00 and sold it for $ 275. at a gun show..Had a Vaquero some years later but when I came across an American Western Arms 71/2 in 357, the action was/is sooosmooth I traded the Vaquero for an M1 Garand to a guy who had to have the Vaquero..

SP101 .22lr , had several SP's at the time in .357 and sold the .22.
That was about 12 yrs ago. It took a few years later for me to
realise the mistake I made when I purchased a used SP .22 and it is easily
the most expensive SP101 I have purchased.

I sold a great Mark II target, bull barrell in '04 that I had for years. Had sticker shock recently when I shopped to replace it. Dumb!

My first single Six three screw, bought around 1969 at the Marine Corps PX in San Diego, California. Sold it to a very good friend in order to purchase a duty weapon upon becoming a police officer.

Fortunately my wife is smarter than I. There have been times I've debated selling guns to buy others. A factory stainless high gloss New Model Blackhawk .357, and a spotless MK1 target barrel. I'd tell what I wanted to get and how I considered getting it and each time she say "no, that one is too pretty, or no, I shoot that one to well. Just go get what you want. I love her dearly.

Over the years, 3 Blackhawks that I traded off. I keep telling myself to not do that!

really should not have traded this away

It was the early '70's, I had a really nice .22 convertible, stag horn grips nice holster. I was in a bind for tuition, you know the story. I sure do miss that cowboy gun, she was a straight shooter and never gave a minutes trouble. Son in law just got me a heritage for a replacement for my fathers day present. Nice gift
