Unhappy

Sold one Ruger to buy another Ruger!!! Ruger SP101 3 inch barrell .357 Mag. I have always wanted a Old Model Ruger Vaquero Bisley Stainless Steel .357 Mag. Well I had a chance to get the Vaquero if I could sell the SP101 I sold the SP101 actually made some money and bought the Vaquero. I do not regret buying the Vaquero it will never leave my possession. Great shooting gun, but man I do miss that SP101 hopefully someday I will buy another one. I think the main reason I sold it was because it was not my main CCW gun, never the less still a very nice little gun!!!

I had a Stainless New Model Blackhawk in .357. Sold it years ago and sure wish I had it back. I really liked that one. The regrets of life.

I had a 10.5 inch SS SBH back in the 80's. Paid I think $205 for it. Traded towards a 4" S&W 629. I shoulda kept it.

A 5 1/2 inch Redhawk, .44 mag. Had to raise some money at that time. It was the Redhawk or my .44 carbine, and I kept the carbine. Last one I saw locally was over $700..

Did the same thing with the same gun but not for another Ruger. I was hard up for some cash flow. Ah....if I could go back in time.

There are two Rugers I wish I had back. The first was an OM Blackhawk .45 Colt with the 4 5/8" barrel. I had acquired an ACP cylinder for it and it was quite accurate with that. It was also one of the few .45 Colts that didn't lead with the soft Speer 250gr lead bullets. It was stolen in a home burglary in 1977.
The second was one of the late all steel Bearcats. Great little pocket pistol. This one gave me some trouble as the timing slipped, but a local gunsmith made it right. I later traded it on something else. Got all of $35.00 for it. What a dunce.

Since then I've not parted with any of my Rugers. I'll buy more, but I don't part with 'em, I keep 'em.

My 2nd or 3rd revolver I bought was a 4" Security Six stainless. Had it tuned by a gunsmith and the action was wonderful but he gouged the crane somehow so sold it.
Now, I would have had the crane polished out or replaced and no big problem. Live
and learn.

The other was a Redhawk 5.5" stainless .44 mag. Had that tuned, a nice set of
Herretts put on, Bowen extended firing pin and rear sight, Millett front, black
powder bevel on cylinder, etc. etc. At the time I convinced myself I didn't need
a .44 mag in an urban area but what does rational have to do with it?

I've bought and sold many guns over the years. Trading is fun and rarely do I regret a sale. But I have always regretting selling my GP100. I hadn't shot it in years when I sold it about three years ago. But it was beautiful and the first handgun I ever purchased for myself. I got a good price for it but I missed it so bad this past Fall I bought an SP101 to make me feel better, so to speak.

Awards Showcase

I have stupidly sold a bunch of great guns...not just Rugers. One summer in particular stands out. Times were hard, and the group of guns I let go for $1000 still makes me sick to my stomach. I would look like a fool if I listed them all, suffice it to know that a Winchester Model 71 and a S&W Model 25 (45 Colt) were just 2 of them.......

The Ruger I miss the most would either be the MKII 5.5 Bull I bought at the PX/Rod&Gun Club while stationed in Germany, or the No. 3 in .44 Magnum.

Miss My Ruger SP101!!!

I had a really nice Ruger SP101 .357 mag with the 3 inch barrel this gun had a action job that was done to it by some gunsmith as I was told by the previous owner. Well this gun was worked on by a particular gunsmith that was from Mo. Well when I got this gun about 3 years ago I live in Utah. This liitle SP101 had the smoothes action I have ever seen on a SP101. I have always wanted a Ruger Old Model Vaquero Bisley Stainless in .357. Well one came up in the local newspaper I called the guy that had this gun & advertised my SP101. Well I sold the Sp101 & bought the Vaquero the same day! I really love the Vaquero & plan to keep this gun plus I have a georgious Marlin CB rifle the original model with the 24 inch hexogonal barrel so these 2 guns really go nice and complement each other! But I really miss the SP101 something tells me I need or want another one!

Sold my old model single six about three years ago.
wish I had kept it. Traded a #3 in hornet now they
are worth a lot more than I got for it. That thing
refused to shoot good. Had a few MK1's that I
sold or traded. Got one now that I bought new
in the late 60's. It's staying with me.
