Much as I appreciate the firepower of a modern semi-auto pistol such as that M&P 40, that scene was better with that big ol' 44 magnum pointed at those fools.

Yeah I know, I've been parked beside a couple of 44mags at indoor ranges. Each time they fire your cloths would move...lol. I thought S&W line was cool though.

Our local indoor range will not allow firing of the S&W 500 50 cal. Too much blast.

I have loved 44 mag for years and the mountain mag 44 is fine. Teh 329 is too light for me with even 200 grain loads let alone 300 grain.

When he points that cannon at the punk holding a hostage and says "go ahead, make my day" the camera shows the barrel of that gun and it looks like you could fire a 55 gallon drum through it...

While I love my Clint Eastwood movies as much as the next guy, "Sudden Impact" kinda traumatized me for life. It was that scene where the bad guys jumped Harry, and kicked the Model 29 off the dock and into the ocean. Granted, it was necessary for story line purposes; how else were they going to give Harry the excuse to switch to that AMT .44 Automag for the climactic shootout? Still, every time I watch that S&W go skittering off the pier and into the drink, I cringe.

When they kicked his gun of the pier I literally yelled out oh crap noooo!
But then he bust out a 44 automag, and I felt a whole lot better!

If you were shooting at the same indoor range in NC as I was when I had my 29-3 or 50ae Eagle with me I apologize. The 50 AE will literally make the paper targets wave from the muzzle blast 2 seconds after the round has already gone through at 5 and 10 yards, seen it first hand. But the funniest thing I usually stay a couple lanes away from anyone ( outta respect) when shooting the big bores, people will be blasting away with 9's 40's and 45's and soon as I shoot its like dead silence. Shock and Awe I guess. Quote:

I just watched the original a few days ago, Harry has to take the 29 out and drop it, and Scorpio is like "My.....that's a big one!" I always laugh at that
And then the horrible sound of a Model 29 bouncing off the cement |
