I'll be honest with you guys. I'm sorry for any heartache I may have caused. But it's not from the factory but it is a factory stock I cut down and clearances the inside to fit the take down parts. It took a few hours to figure everything out to make it just right. I think it turned out great. Obviously by your responses ruger should jump on the band wagon and offer it in wood. Or someone should sell aftermarket ones. Maybe I should. I know exactly how to do it now. Again I apologize. I was merely testing the waters to see if I was the only one that preferred wood over plastic.

LOL! Nice.
I should have paid more attention to my first instincts when I noticed the unfinished wood around the takedown lever.

It is actually finished but it didn't want to absorb it as much to stay dark. In person it looks better. I'm thinking of trying another one. I have one more stock. They are both donors since I turned my other 10/22's into a gattling gun.

Yeah I guess you could purchase a new Takedown, then buy a wood stock, cut it in half at the precise spot and Voila...you have a wooden stock 10-22 takedown.
[UPDATE] Oops I just read your follow up post and you did just that! Congrats it turned out great from all accounts!

It took about four hours. The next one will go quicker. I made a template then a jig for the router. I was trying to plan ahead if I ever do another one.

I would like to see one done in Walnut instead of birch though.

I want to do one but I wanted to practice on a free stock before I destroy a $150 stock. I am going to figure out how to modify a bull barrel to fit too. I think I have it figured out. Just a little bit of lathe work and mill work.

I didn't buy the 10/22 take down at the LGS because it was a synthetic stock. Now I'll have to wait for a wood stock to come in.

I'm buying a bull barrel and going to cut up my other stock so I can change out between standard and bull. It will take me at least a week with shipping and everything to get it right. The barrel is also threaded for my next purchase. I will post mor pics when it's done.
