I horse traded a Ruger new model 50 year anniversary (new and unfired in the box) Blackhawk 357 mag for this Ruger old model 3 screw 41 Mag about 5 years ago. The man was the original owner. He said one day he went to the store, bought milk, eggs, smokes, and this gun. He went home, shot three cylinders through it, cleand it and stuck it in his safe. Then he threw the box away. It has only had 12 rounds fired through it, and the serial # is 92XX. I know what it is worth but have no plans on selling it. I have one old dude that would pay me a premium for it, but mentally, I've pretty much married it. Go figure. Jim

good collector's item and still a good shooter though I will take a new model blackhawk as a shooter any day of the week. The xr3 red grip fits my hand better than an xr3 or colt grip frame and I know the best safety is between your ears but I still ike a transfer bar safety.

In 1971 I bought my Father a 41 for Christmas. He was wanting either a 357 or a 44 but could not decide. I really think he could not afford either. So one day I was in a Gun Shop and found this brand new Ruger, Blackhawk, 41. I was not old enough to buy it, so I gave my money to my older brother and he made the purchase.
I never had the guts to light up a cigarette around dad so when he opened up his present, which made him a very happy camper, my sister-in-law said, "well if you are going to smoke around him now is the time." Dad never even noticed. So dad got his revolver and I got to smoke without the fear of getting my butt kicked.
Dad is gone now but I have his 41. Still looks almost like the day I bought it. Don't have the box, but what the heck, I have the memories.
