That is a very nice shooting 22.
I was out shooting that same JC higgins on Friday. My dad bought in new from Sears in 1951, he paid $11.00 for it.

That would have been a full days wages in 1951. How did it shoot?

tglazie is an unknown quantity at this point
This is an excellent gun OP, jump on it. I have a 101.13 from the 40s (tube mag version of the same) and wouldnt part with it for the world. Of course, it was my first gun so that has something to do with it My Mom bought it for me for $50 in the 80s.

Damn if isnt accurate. I LOVE the long sight radius with the 24" barrel, and really love the tiny front sight (tiny relative to a gun like a model 94 or the like that is)

You will have hours and hours and hours of fun shooting with this gun, I assure you. There is nothing like plinking with a gun that dollar for dollar is as accurate as anything on earth. If you can see it, you can hit it (eventually!)

Lol, boy did he overpay(j/k), my brother bought his for $9.95 from Sears, around 1950-52-ish. He got the money together by saving money from his 'paper route', (on Long Island, NY). It was the first gun i ever shot.
Since getting back into recreational shooting I started to look for one this past spring but to no avail. I did find a Winchester Model 69('35-'37) repeater in very nice shoot-able condition that I love but would jump on the original single shot Higgins in a heartbeat!
More gun shows here starting in Nov. :-)
(PS. I can still remember the sound it made when you pulled the knob back to cock the rifle)
