Thumbs up

Very nice rifle there, what brand of scope?? Are you using the stock barrel or a custom barrel, and what's your barrel twist rate?? My son in law just picked up a Savage 111 in .243. I have hunted with a .243 for years one of my .243's was a Ruger M77 tang safety .243 great rifle I should have kept. My current .243 is a very nice Mauser 98 design action a Interarms Mark X with a 24 inch barrel walnut stock. This rifle I picked up for $300.00 with a Nikon 3-9x40 scope. I just recently changed over to. BDC type of scope. Nikon Buckmaster II 3-9x40 BDC got a great buy on it. But now I am wondering if I should have opted for more magnification 4-12, or 4-16 etc. The son in law wants to use the .243 Win. For long range shooting. I do reload have done for years, currently have 85-100 grain bullets reloaded using IMR or H 4831. To the OP your rifle is georgious I like it a lot, the Boyd's stock is very nice, how is your accuracy?? Thx for sharing pics!!!

scope is a bushnell trophy xtreme 6-24x50mm.it is the stock barrel with a 1 in 9 twist.it will shoot 10 shots inside a silver dollar at 100 yards but i have to let the barrel cool every 2 or 3 shots or ill get flyers.im ok with that cuz the first shot at a deer out of a cold barrel is what counts.

i know i dont need that high of magnification for hunting, but i do alot of target shooting with this rifle out to 500 yards.i limit myself to 250 or 300 yards for hunting.the two things i learnt about my rifle is i played with the stock screws till it was real accurate and dont touch them again and it shoots the most accurate when the bore is dirty.

im guessing its the quality and thinness of the barrel, but it shoots awesome cold and not so good hot.my rule with this rifle is shoot twice and let it cool down.havnt had a flyer yet doing this.although a flyer could be %100 my fault.

My favorite bullet has been the 100 grain BTSP Hornady Interlock bullet behind a chg of H-4831. I have killed quite a few mule deer with this load. Also a .270 Win.with a 140 grain BTSP also using H-4831. Both are good long range caliber's. To the OP looks like you have a good combination. I think I'll keep the Nikon on my .243 for now.
