Well, if they were counterfeiting grips in 63 there is a chance, but...I'm going to dig through dad's old paperwork. It wouldn't surprise me if has the receipt for the gun, and anything else it came with...keep you posted if I find anything.

If you can find some paperwork to confirm the grips came from Ruger then you've pretty much settled the authenticity question. And it's only a question that matters if you were to decide to sell the gun or even just the grips. Seems like you have a family heirloom that's worth more to you than whatever dollar value someone else might put on it.

Very nice Ruger. Very happy for you having your dad's gun and the memory of him with it. At some point, and not anytime soon I hope, my son will have 5 generations of his family's guns. Several built in the 1800's. none of them have great monetary value but lots of sentimental value. No amount of money could buy any of them.
