For a good all round knife, the Buck is still very good and they have a number of different models to suit your needs.

Not the OP combo but I use a Ruger 4 5/8 .41 in a field holster with an early Browning 4" skinner no picture of it |

My Ruger Vaquero .44 magnum with a Tidioute Red Bone Trapper #065 of 200. Tidioute knives are made by skilled craftsmen in Titusville, PA. 
.357 Magnum Blackhawk with a CRKT Tanto.
