Yes I agree. The story was I had seen one of these several years back and just fell in love with it, but because of its price tag couldn't do, it. Then the lgs sold it. Well I made my mind up if they got another I wanted it. Well 5 or 6 months later they got 1 in. I purchased it, and have loved it ever since. It wasn't easy on the bank account, but is on the eyes. Kimber no longer makes this version, or hasn't since maybe 2010, or 2011. Its a short guide rod, comes with trijicon night sights, target trigger, and is more accurate than I am. They made 4 versions the short(carry), pro and 2 different full, size custom versions one with a rail, one without.

If I may buy a second it would be a kimber warrior, black with tan grips, or a Colt Delta Elite in 10mm, then alter it to my liking since the delta elite just looks to plain, but the 10mm is a force to be reckoned with.

I have also always had a love for the colt defender, just a neat, good feeling pistol, never fired one though.

Just got it (used) about three weeks ago. I ditched the FLGR and shaved the ambi safety off...now it's just how I would design a 1911. Love it (especially the bobtail)!

Not sure who makes them, but they're stock on this gun.

Will likely be my next gun, given how well my full size S&W PC gun shoots.

The Colt National Match was my duty gun. The target was bench rested at 25 yards using +P 185 gr. HP full 8 rnd mag. The S&W target was shot at 25 yards from a Ransom rest, 8 rds Federal 185 gr. gold match ammo. The S&W was my IDPA match gun. The custom smith that did the accuracy job on the S&W is now working for Ruger at their Prescott, AZ. factory after he obtained his engineering degree.

I had a local gunsmith work on it but that was $50 wasted. It's back at Colt now for them to "evaluate and repair." My first Colt CS experience. So far it's been two weeks and no word so I guess I better call 'em up and ask. I'm hoping they can sort it out as I really like the pistol and I want to be able to shoot it without getting a brass attack.
My desert eagle 50 ae will do the same thing if you hold it softly instead of firmly, it really has no recoil despite you tube video's. Hope they figure it out, would be interesting knowing what they do to it, stronger recoil spring, or less, ejection port relief cut, etc.

I hope your Colt CS experience is better than mine was. It took them about 5 months just to repair the FDE finish on an AR. You'll be getting a form letter in the mail describing the expected wait times for various repairs. Basically the letter says it takes 60-90 days for most repairs. They'll tell you not to contact them until at least 60 days has past from the date of the letter. Keep in mind, it took almost a month for them to acknowledge they had received my rifle. I waited the requisite 60 days and gave them a call. No news, call back in two weeks. Wash, rinse, repeat. Five months later I got my rifle back. They did fix it correctly but the wait was ridiculous and their response to my queries was less than helpful most of the time. Good luck.

What's the trick for posting full size pics? I've figured out how to post thumbnails but can't figure out how to post full size pics.
