You know I couldn't stay quiet. Yeah the v5/ 40 was one of the last guns vector made before the lawsuit/ammo issues. Paid $1650 for it then. Maybe 2007. It ran great, 30 rd capacity, bolt hold open, but parts for hk's are pricey. Think those mags costed $75 each. Flashider for the 3 lug was $120 from hkparts.net. I traded that gun to a friend for a crazy amount. He still has it, hasn't even fired it since the last time I cleaned it atleast 5 years ago. Part of the deal was if he ever decided to part with it, it had to come back to me. Maybe one day. Many days I wish I had not made that trade.

Yeah I had an aug, 1n8 twist barrel 16". It was a great rifle, but after several years of shooting it, I traded it for a national match m1a, which I truly love. But I did enjoy the 42 rd capacity, and its shortness. It was the same size as my 5.56 pistol. The pistol replaced it.

Let me see if I can add a few more i have hidden deep in my toy box.

My mini 14's with one wearing an ATI stock. They are the only other black rifles I have so far. Actually I don't currently have that ATI stock anymore, may have to pickup another one one of these days.

Stock trigger pull on the Tavor isn't great either. Pulled the extra reset spring out of the OEM trigger pack and it was better.

I've got a serious itch for a PS90. There is just something about it is very close to overriding any concerns I have about the trigger or the 5.7 x 28. Every time Die Hard is on, I get an itch for an AUG.

The AUG trigger pack is very rough as well, just a drawback of the design, even though their are options for better ones on the market.

Die Hard, don't we all get that itch from time to time.

Alright here it is!
FN guys call it the tuna.

Came with a cheapo BSA red dot sight. It'll probably get replaced.

Well, the thought had crossed my mind, but i thought about the company you keep (US) and thought we are all nuts.

Well I learned something new, Tuna huh? Never heard it called that. I like the design, always been not to crazy about the ejection design "if" a shell case gets stuck In the ejection channel, although probably not an issue. I do not like the factory rear sight, wish you could remove them and install folders without having 2 sets on the rifle. However I do, like the shortness, the ergonomics and its portability. I also like the location of the controls. Also gets a negative for the rubber seal around the magazine area which keeps you away from p mags, and only aluminum or steel mags. All in all I would have one, eotech 512 on top, and would enjoy it. So why is it called a "tuna"?

Their general shape resembles a tuna, I guess. I don't really see it but it's what the FN guys call them. The sights on this, the Tactical model, really are intended to be back up. The front looks like it comes off but the rear doesn't. I considered putting some MBUS on it and taking the front off. I'll probably ditch the BSA red dot on it and out a Burris Fast Fire on.
As far as PMAGS go, I'm sure if this were designed more recently then it would accept them, but luckily steel GI mags are easy to find.
It is light and the ergonomics are great. FN really does (or did) their research.
I'll post a range report when I have one.
