Fluted WMR Cylinder On 200th Ann Single-Six

I have a Stainless Single Six the was "Made In The 200th Year". It has the fluted WMR cylinder. I was wondering how many fluted cylinders were produced after mine. My serial number is 64-580**. On other forums there is information being spread that there were none fluted after 1974. I'm the original owner, and both cylinders are etched with the three digits matching my revolver. I was just wondering if anyone has a stainless 200th Single-Six with the fluted WMR cylinder with a serial number after 64-58050.

None fluted SS cylinders started showing up in 1974, that's true. But fluted cylinders continued to be shipped as well thru 1975 and 76. My Liberty Model #64-22659 has a fluted mag cylinder. My # 64-34342 has a non-fluted cyl. But I dont know if there were any with a higher # than yours.

I have a Single Six # 68-81xxx (1981) with a fluted Magnum cylinder. Purchased used, so the cylinder may not be original. Neither cylinder has any numbers stamped on them. The mag cylinder does have 4 engraved #s on the face that do not match the serial #. But it is amaturish.

So . . .

The factory hand engraved #s on the front of the mag cylinder only and they are very amaturish. But three of the numbers should be the same as the last three of the gun's serial #. The 4th digit is just a factory inspection mark. You do have a replaced older cylinder. But as long as it's not loose, no problem. I like both cylinders fluted and maybe the former owner did too.

Thanks. Those numbers don't match. It's tight and shoots pretty good.

Dad's had the smooth mag cylinder, which I prefer. It is a quick visual to see which one is in the gun. My brother got that gun, which is okay. I got the Winchester 1890 WRF!

Also, this mag cylinder does not have the firing pin groove!

Hick,
The smooth mag cylinders are the easiest to find. Just measure overall length of yours with a caliper in .001" and get one the same as yours or longer. Make sure the diameter of your ratchet circle is the same also.
Your fluted one is harder to find so you might sell it for more than you have to pay.

None of the mag cylinders ever had the firing pin groove, new or old. And it isn't needed on new model guns that's why even the new model 22 LR cylinders no longer have the firing pin groove either. If your LR cylinder does, it's left over old model inventory.
