If it's a real one, you've got some big $$$$$$ sitting there (only 500 made, fakes do exist). Pics?

I am deployed right now. My grandfather gave it to my father when he retired from the service. I can see if he can send me pics or I can post some when I return home.

Wouldn't surprise me. During war-time, all resources were turned to producing for the war. This is why there are IBM, Postal Meter, GM-Saginaw and my favorite, Rock-Ola M1 Carbines! I'd love to see the Singer 1911.

There is a book and web site devoted to the other 1911 guns. Check with them t get a serial number range and get flaydermans guide to used firearms. I would recomend a professional appraisal from someone not interested in buying it. Call the state nra nad get a list of authorized firearms appraisers in your area.

May want to have it verified or authenticated as there are more forgeries out there than real ones, IIRC there were only about 500 made.

I've read about them. I think I have a picture of one in my Sweeney book on 1911's.

Did you buy it? Sounds like if you did you've got a rare gem.
