Ruger box value info

Is there available within the Ruger fraternity, a list of values for Ruger boxes, paperwork, etc. If so, how do I qualify for obtaining such a list. Thanks

The Red Eagle News Exchange chrugers@aol.com publishes an annual list of "values" for all things Ruger in addition to a four-times-annually detailed publication (RENE) covering the Ruger collecting hobby.

Suggest you drop an e-mail to Chad and get "enrolled".

A fast reference to what Ruger or other manufacturers boxes will bring is Ebay. Last summer I had 20-25 old Ruger boxes and started looking around for values, a friend mentioned seeing some on Ebay. One of my old boxes for a Ruger Hawkeye .256 with booklet, warranty card, etc. in 95% condition brought $300.00 on a 10 day sale. That was the rariest one I had, most varied from the $25 to $35 range, but even that was better than sitting in my basement. Those boxes paid for another No.1 in .22-250 along with a Burris 4X16X44 scope, thrilled the heck out of me.

Thumbs up

Old model boxes mainly ,then any scarce (rare) variations of newer boxes......its really the end labels of the newer ,one piece boxes the first ones red/white lettering, then the yellow, with a black end, same thing the end label is what matters, the boxes are mostly "generic", the package needs the box as well as the shipping sleeve and needs to be numbered to the gun inside to get the top dollar value.........
new model boxes for the most part run $15-25 for the early 70s vintage, and $10-$20 for the yellow fold up ,one piece boxes........

the old model boxes, you have to go back to the RENE reference price guide and that is what collectors are willing to pay for them??? ( ha, not many that I know..) , in nice or mint shape...see too many pieces of crap, sat on, busted corners, and torn apart, and wanting top dollar..sorry NOT me...yes, rare old model boxes, or early first issue flatop boxes,ANY old model 10 inch two piece box, Lightweight boxes, they are the cream of the crop and MUST be sold at auction, and you will be amazed at what some folks will pay for them....all it takes is two drunks wanting and bidding on the same thing, at ANY type of auction , and the bidding goes through the roof..............
$300 for a Hawkeye box is about "average"; if 'mint' shape ,almost double that.........gotta really see them and look them over carefully, lots of "repaired ones" are out there.........
