Wisconsin's concealed carry law is one year old today (Woo Hoo !).
I found myself carrying my LC9 and HK P7 a lot at first for their light weight and smaller size (compared to the numerous 1911 variety guns I own).
I found as time went on and I got some better holsters I have started carrying bigger guns most of the time, usually a Commander size 1911 these days, and even with shorts and a T shirt in the summer. I found that I could conceal them just fine, and that a high quality belt made a huge difference.
You know, I think gun size and comfort is a relative thing. I have a glock 30, a glock 19, a glock 22 a glock 27, an sp 101, a S&W bodyguard 380, and a keltec p3at. I almost never carry anything but the 30. Its bigger than the other guns but its comfortable in its blade-tech holster and I guess I just like the number 4 and 230 grain hydro-shocks. Clint Smith is famous for saying a carry gun should be comforting not just comfortable. I'm used to the extra weight and size since I carry every day all day and it sits by the bed at night. I know there is very little real difference with modern expanding ammo between the calibers but this feels comfortable which with practice makes me more confident when out in the big world.
Not to long ago I got an LCP for those times where my normal CCW choices were still to large for my dress. The LCP fits in ALL my pockets (jeans, dress pants, gym shorts). The intent was for it to be rarely carried, just for those 'quick grab' times.
I've noticed it's seems to be the gun I always grab now, even when my clothing supports one of my others that I like better, shoot better, more potent caliber, etc etc etc? I think it's simply because the LCP is SO easy to carry.
Anyone else have similar experiences?
Nothing wrong the LCP, I just realized how long it's been since I carried my XDs or LCR!
Huh? This is a concept I do not understand. While I cannot carry at work or have my gun in my car in the parking lot, I carry from the time I get home until I leave for work next. Yes, I carry in the home since I learned that most always the home invasions are happening at home. So when I leave home I don't "quick grab" a small pocket gun, I already have a bigger one. But hey, that's just how I am. YMMV
Galco made it easy for me to carry concealed. I use their horsehide pocket holster for my LCP and a KingTuck for any of 1911s, from a 3"er to a 5"er. Have found no other holsters are needed, although I do have another Galco inside the pants holsters for my 1911s.

I personally only carry full-size guns; to me, the little ones are for BUG use. I subscribe to the Clint Smith school of thought that says "It's not supposed to be comfortable....it's supposed to be comforting." But hey, to each their own, if this works for you, it's better than not carrying at all.
I pocket carry either an LCR 38 Spl, SP101 or a Charter Undercover in jeans without problem. I long ago graduated to the relaxed fit variety. Before I buy I check pocket depth and have had good luck with Lee jeans and even branded ones from Gander Mountain.
I sometimes carry my LCR when everything else is just to big to carry. I am finding that I am carrying my SP101 2.25" more and more and it seems to have replaced my beloved HK's for EDC.
Andy, looks like I am in the same area of Va so our weather is the same. This time of year I wear a Carhartt Detroit Jacket. The side slash hand pockets are made for small revolvers (S&W J frames and Ruger LCR or SP 101). Completely conceals and heavy material does not print, yet easy access.
Coat is heavy enough that it hangs level. To help balance the weight of the 101 I put a speed loader in the opposing pocket.
FWIW I buy most of my Carhartt from Sierra Trading Post online, some are marked as 2nds, but I never found the defect and the price is right.
I'm a little guy, 5'11"/145, and yet I have always carried a full size CCW. I've carried every day for 20 years and probably 90% of the time it is a 10mm Glock 20. There was a while in there where I really went "small" and carried a .40 Glock 23 (hardly what you could actually call 'small' by todays standards). The remainder of the time is a mix of a 5" 1911, a 4" 8-shot S&W 627 or a 4" GP-100.
Ever since the LCP and LCR came out I've been intrigued by the idea, because while I always manage to find a way to 'hide' a full size gun, it IS a hassle more often than I'd like. I've always talked myself out of the LCP because, as you can see by the choices I listed above, I like the added horsepower. And the LCR limits on capacity.
Last week, I purchased an LC9. First 9mm I've ever owned. Got it specifically for those rare instances where a bigger gun is just a PITA. I'm more comfortable now with the idea of using a 9mm than I have been in the past, because of advancements in ammunition... but I'm carrying that LC9 as we speak and I'll admit, the idea of a 9mm still leaves me a bit on wary side.
I guess it'll be a matter of time to see if the unease over the caliber is outweighed by the increased ease of carry. As they say, any gun is better than no gun. :-)
I feel comfortable carrying a .380 as my carry gun. That being said, I don't live in a cold weather climate,a nd the only "jackets" people normally wear down here are sweatshirts or "hoodies". I can see it being a bit different in the land of Carharts and leathers.
That being said, I carry my LCP when I go running or to the gas station for a coffee or something. Other than that, I carry my Colt Defender .45. No problem carrying it with a good holster and belt combo.
My idea of "comfortable" carry is my SP101 short barrel, but the wife has taken that from me for her bedside/house gun, so I only get to carry it when we're going out together.
I carried a Kahr PM9 for a while after i got my CCW, but changed over to the LCP after i shot it without a hiccup for 100 rounds. It is my go-to gun now due to ease of carry, light weight, and the comfort factor of knowing i can hit what i'm aiming at. The laser helps tremendously to achieve a good aiming point. The .380 may be a little weak, but it's better than not carrying at all.
