The argument that no one volunteers to get shot with any caliber being discussed is merely silly. I also wouldn’t volunteer to stand in front of a seven year old girl throwing rocks. That doesn’t make rocks good self-defense weapons.

I haven't shot it in years but as I recall it shot low and with the trigger groups weren't something I worried about. It was accurate at 3 ft. The mag release broken on mine but I got another off Numerica and put it on. They also made them in 25 ACP but when I bought it I figured I'd be better off with the 22 LR.

I just got done putting a box of cheap PMC .25 through the Bobcat, ran 100% and not that it's important for a pocket gun, but this gun is extremely accurate. I fired a mag out at 25 yards and although bullet drop was about 6" or so, the rounds still fell into a decent softball sized cluster.
Before I really did a lot of shooting with my "new to me" .22 and .25 Bobcats, I had thought the sights were there more for cosmetics, but both of them are dead on if one were so inclined to ever use the tiny sights on these. In a defense scenario, it's irrelevant because if you've got time to line up the little sights on the Bobcat, you're outside of effective "pocket popper" range and should probably be using that time to escape
The best way to practice with these pistols is to set up a B-27 or FBI "bottle" target and practice drawing and shooting one handed using point shooting techniques at ranges from 0 to 5 yards. You're most likely not going to draw and get into a good modified Weaver if you ever have to use one of these in a serious situation.

cMc214 you are right, a 22 would stop you from what you might have been doing. Good guys are easier to stop. Therefore, we are not antisocial personalities, we do have a conscious about hurting others, we don't already have scars from past shootings/stabings, and we don't plan how to rape, rob, or kill our fellow man/woman. Most of the repeat offenders are used to jail/prison. They don't value life the way we do. Therefore, one cannot judge what would stop us because we are not "animals" that prey on others like criminals do.

I am reading what seems like a lot of Jibberish!!!
Now first of all for starters, a frigging .22-LR is NOT a Stopping Caliber. It will hurt like hell after awhile but those are the facts. A .45acp is a STOPPING ROUND PERIOD! It has a track record a mile long and over 100 years of service to boot.
I once knew a man who was 6'-3" tall, weighed in a 265 pounds and raw bone tuff as nails to chew. He carried a straight razor. He got drunk and slapped a smaller man half to death at this party.
The small man came back armed with a .25-auto. pull it out and shot the big man 7 times at 10 ft away. However, the big man still got to him and cut his throat twice from ear to ear and windpipe too. Now both died!!! However, the big man walked half a block before he fell over on the sidewalk. The smaller man who pulled out the .25 auto died within 5 minutes, after his throat was sliced.
Now small calibers for this fellow gentlemen. I been in several fights and I can tell you for a fact, Bigger is always Better and chances are you will live to fight another day.

To me, a .25 ACP is a step down from a Mouse Gun...more of a Pi**ant gun. It is a gun, but nothing I would carry. My 'grab & go' gun is instant on, instant off and conceals completely unless I'm going somewhere shirtless (which I don't do.) Any t shirt I have makes it invisible. It's a 10+1 9mm+P when I can't carry something more potent. That's as low as I go. YMMV |

The 25 acp was useful because few people want to get shot and at the time of its design it allowed very small guns to fire it. Now we have guns the same size that fire 32 or 380 acp.

I have carried a Beretta 21A .22 cal. in warm weather, but after the P3AT and LCP came out i carry one or the other of them, they are as easy to CC and the 380 ACP is a way better round for self defense plus they are more dependable. The 25 cal. might be dependable but are vary lacking in stopping power and while they might intimidate a bad guy some attacks happen so fast that that is not an option, the bad guy might be ready to stab or shoot you when you get off your first shot.

A .25 ACP comfortably in your pocket is better than the 1911 at home in the drawer.

I carry a Rossi 621 in my pocket .357 or a 1911 during the winter.
There is a little saying I heard many years ago.
"25 acp is a great little pistol right up until the guy figures out you shot him, then he's going to be really mad."

But one can have a similarly sized pocket semi-auto in .32ACP or .380 ACP. So the statement: "a .380 ACP comfortably in your pocket is better than the .25 ACP at home in the drawer", is also as valid.
For civilian concealed carry, carrying the largest caliber gun that you can effectively shoot and comfortably conceal under your normal clothing, is what I would strive for. For many, this would mean having a smaller gun for light clothing, and a larger gun for heavier clothing.
