Worth Checking Out! GunLawsByState.Com

Admins: I was not sure where to post this, but this seemed to be the most obvious choice to me. Please move if you see a better choice.

Just caught news of an (apparently) new site that is without a doubt the most in depth guide to gun laws, listed state by state, and reciprocity I have yet seen.

GUNLAWSBYSTATE.COM is free to access at any time via the net, and is apparently going to be updated on a constant basis.

Question and answer type mini threads run alongside the laws as you read through, allowing you to both view or ask questions and either read responses by the author, other posters, or write your own as well.

You have the option to purchase a non-interactive hard copy of the book for offline use, and there is a Kindle version for purchase as well.

Well, some of the buttons don't seem to work, the reciprocity maps wouldn't open. I took the gun law intelligence quiz. The results were not bolded or colored as it said they would be, so I couldn't tell which ones I got right or wrong. These guys need a little IT help.

I like usacarry.com okay. I also get the Pocket Pistols magazine each year (only comes out once a year) It has a basic state by state gun law guide in the back.

It appears the site just came up yesterday and is still in at least some forms of development, but its got a lot of potential with a bit of polishing by the techs.

In NJ the gun laws are very strict. You need to get a permit to purchase a long gun that will take several months to get. You will then have to get a separate permit for each handgun. You also have to transport a gun unloaded in a case and with a handgun only to and from the shooting location.

Definately some bugs to be worked out on that site.

Wasn't there also another similar site for the anti gun people that graded states on how strict their laws were?

I rely on Handgunlaw.us for all my (pretty extensive) travel -- been around, accurate, up-to-date. Run by guys with extensive contacts nationally as a service to us all.

According to handgunlaws.US :

Do "No Gun Signs" Have the Force of the Law?

"NO"

“Handgunlaw.us highly recommends that you not enter a place that is posted "No Firearms" no matter what the state laws read/mean on signage. We recommend you print out the No Guns = No Money Cards and give one to the owner of the establishment that has the signage." As responsible gun owners and upholders of the 2nd Amendment we should also honor the rights of property owners to control their own property even if we disagree with them.”

Was since I live in Georgia I'm also am going to post this:

“No Firearm” signs in Georgia have no force of law unless they are posted on property that is specifically mentioned in State Law as being off limits to those with a Permit/License to Carry. If you are in a place not specifically mentioned in the law that is posted and they ask you to leave, you must leave. If you refuse to leave then you are breaking the law and can be charged. Even if the property is not posted and you are asked to leave you must leave. Always be aware of the possibility that responding Police Officers who may have been called without your knowledge and may not know the laws on trespass etc. could arrest you even if you are within the law.
