Advantages of DEEP concealment!

I posted about this little gun over on the "other pistols" section, but I just wanted to re-state how much I love this little NAA .22 LR Mini revolver

I bought a box of CCI Stinger today, and test fired 10 of them. They have some pop, for a .22 LR. The Quik-Shoks seem promising but I'll have to order those.

I also fired about 50 rounds of cheap Rem Thunderbolt for "familiarization" today, to practice drawing from the pocket and getting a quick (but safe) first shot off. The gun is surprising accurate at realistic ranges, and at 10 feet I was shooting one handed and making 5" or so groups. This is obviously not a target gun, but it is capable of hitting what you aim it at. There is no rear sight you have to kind of get used to where to hold the sight blade. Either way, if you're using this for self defense, you're not going to worry about sights anyway. This is a "Dr." gun, as in, in the Ears, Eyes, Nose and Throat are the spots you should be shooting at

You have to be careful, it is fully possible to drop one of these after cocking it, due to the micro-sized birdshead grip and there's no trigger guard I may switch out the rosewood grips for the rubber "cobblestone" grips just for more control, but I also want to get a .22 Magnum version of this gun, probably the PUG so I may just stay with the rosewoods for now. There are bigger grips available but that would take away from the main advantage of this gun, a very small, VERY concealable gun to carry when you can't carry something bigger.

Yesterday I carried it in an empty pack of Cheyenne Cigarillos.........it fit right in there. I carry this gun wearing basketball shorts, cargo shorts and a tank top, etc. There are times when I just cannot carry even something like a S&W J-frame.

I also love the idea of carrying and, short of a complete pocket search, no one can tell I have a legally carried handgun on me. There have been too many times when I have been in a crowded store or in line and someone bumps against my SP101 that's in my IWB holster, or reaching up high in a grocery store and realizing the grip of your Service Six is sticking out from under your shirt......I have been self-conscious too many times when there has been a bulge on my left hip(I carry crossdraw) when I wore a shirt that was a little too tight for complete concealment.

Today I carried my Mini all day in the cargo pocket of my shorts and there is no way anyone could have known I was carrying. The gun carries like a Zippo lighter, and even patting the outside of your pocket, it would feel like a keychain or something. I plan to get a pocket holster, an IWB clip on holster and one of those "wallet" holsters for it. I feel safe pocket carrying it, with the hammer nose in one of the safety notches, there's no way this gun is going off accidently. Still, I would feel safer with a pocket holster.

Overall, it's a compromise.......the .22 LR or even the .22 WMR out of the very short barrel of these guns is not going to be a manstopper. Yes, no one wants to be shot, with anything, but I would rather have something bigger if a crazed 250 lb. ex-con is trying to tear me apart. Like everyone always says, this little .22 LR revolver is better than the .357 you left at home...... But, this gun is better than my fists, and a little better than a knife (although a knife would be a good companion for this gun) and is the essence of the "shoot and scoot" last ditch, emergency self defense piece. Put one in the attackers head, face or throat.......or one each if there's numerous attackers and get the heck out of there. This isn't the gun for a running gun battle or for going toe to toe with armed assailants. It would also be a good BUG.

I like the idea of carrying it in a pack of cigarettes. I think it would be a good backup gun, but unless I'm walking around in swim trunks and flip flops I think I'll stick to my 9mm.

I carry one of these in addition to my 9mm as a B.U.G. My 9mm goes with me 98% of the time, and my NAA 22LR goes with me 99% of the time. (i spend 1% of my time in free fire zones)

You could drill a hole in the handle and make it into a keychain gun. How longs the barrel? About an inch? Its also SA? Interesting little gun

Whenever I consider the 22 as a SD round I am conflicted. Looking at the power and performance of the round on paper it is clearly too small for a realistic choice.

But then I remember the Reagan assassination attempt. Of the 3 or 4 men hit with the high velocity 22's in that episode, none were still on their feet 2 seconds later.

If you ever need a gun for self defense, then clearly the MOST important factor involved would be to actually have one with you when needed. These pocket rockets fulfill that requirement at least.

BTW; I'm having trouble seeing some of the pix that have been posted here lately. Like in ExArmy's thread starter. All I'm getting is a little box with an X. As far as I know I have not changed any of my settings. Anybody else having that problem?

DEEP concealment sounds like carrying in your undies. I suppose these little NAA's would fit there, too.........

Interesting little guns, but I always felt of little benefit unless you were close enough to punch the BG instead.

Its a 1 and 1/8" barrel.

Stingers are a top choice in these, if you want more power you need the .22 mag version which adds more size to the gun.

I actually prefer this to my .25 Beretta Bobcat.......Usually, if I can carry the lowly .25, then I'm dressed where I can carry something bigger. The mini goes with me when nothing else can.

I have one in Magnum myself. Survived a motorcycle wreck years ago, only the grips got skinned up and it never went off.

I tell people, "If the bullet doesn't hit you, the muzzle blast will burn your nose hair and eyebrows and you will think twice about your next action!"

Touch it off in their face.

In the belly at an upward angle. Thru the bowels, diaphram and into a lung. I suspect the HP's will not open, so penetration should be adequate.

It will not knock a man off his feet, it will give him pause and give you time to retreat or advance. Either is your choice.

I'm not sure of the SA only type pistols for personal defense.

However, I've been considering a S&W 351PD in .22 mag for a summer gun...light weight, accurate, 7-shots, excellent penetration!

Tracer is an unknown quantity at this point
This is a collectors gun or conversation piece! I would never carry something as accident prone as this type of weapon it for a fact. Now back in the spring, a man shot an bystander by accident when he bent over to pick something off the ground. The pistol discharged hitting the person in the left chest area.

There are far to many better suited pistol than anything like what is shown. I sure as blue birds would not use it to bet my life on in the street or any where else.

This weapon when used as directed is very safe. I fail to see how it would go off if dropped with the hammer down in the safety slots. If it is as accident prone as you state maybe you could reference a few accidents with this weapon.

I have to agree. I own the NAA black widow and with the gun carried properly with the hammer in the safety notch it would be almost impossible to have an accidental discharge. Without putting the hammer in the safety notch it is an accident waiting to happen but I'd call that a neligent discharge

Did the security officer's gun have safety notches or was it one in which the hammer rests on the primer?
