You guys that pocket carry without a holster are a ND looking for a place to happen. The trigger should always be covered, whether it's IWB/OWB/pocket/ankle carried, etc. Of course, in normal day-to-day carry/walking around nothing has happened, yet.
All it takes is for some bad guy to scuffle with you and pull the trigger or even a simple trip and fall incident and that bullet is going to hit you and not the bad guy. If you need to use it, you'll still be able to reach in your pocket and leave the holster behind.

| While I mostly agree with that sentiment with most guns, a S&W 642 is probably safer floating around in a pocket than many handguns are with holsters. I've heard of many instances of handguns- especially glocks 'going off' while being holstered but I've never heard of a 642 going off in someone's pocket.

A gun can only "go off" if someone pulls the trigger. That is called a "negligent discharge" (ND). That's why you don't put your finger inside the trigger guard or on the trigger unless you are going to shoot.
Holstering/unholstering will not cause a gun to fire.

After looking again, the "Cargo Carry" only seems to be made for the small .380's and you want for a revolver. I use "Uncle Mike's #3 pocket in regular front pockets, but a #4 is a little wider and might not tilt as much in a cargo pocket.

I have an Uncle Mike's #4 pocket holster and my Ruger LCR fits perfectly. Some sort of pocket holster will help prevent printing if you pocket carry.

I carry my LCR in a Mika pocket holster in the front right pocket, no lint, no printing and the holster stays in the pocket when the gun is drawn. I also carry two 5 Star speed reloaders in the front right cargo pocket. I wear a 5.11 tactical belt so my pants don't sag and my shirt is not tucked in so I don't worry about concealment.

| Pocket Carry for summer
I also "pocket carry" my LCP in my cargo shorts. I use a simple nylon holster and it works pretty good. Helps the pistol to stay put a little better than NO holster at all... |

Mae West said, "Is that a gun in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?" She may have not noticed if the guy had used a pocket holster.......... |

Thats a good way to get shot in the junk!
I use a Desantis Nemesis in my pocket. I would imagine it is more comfortable than carrying without a holster because it gives padding to the sharp edges.
