How quick did it take to get your license?

Well after much procrastination I finally entered the brotherhood of CC. I picked up my license today. It took only 4 days to receive license after background check. Anyone else have quick response? I was expecting to be nervous carrying, but suprisingly no. It felt natural.

In my county the sheriffs dept said they could take up to 45 days to evaluate/approve/deny the certificate but they called 10 days later and said come get'em.

Wisconsin just approved Concealed Carry and 11/1/2011 was the first you could apply. I didn't take the class until 12/4 so I sent in the app. 12/6. Word was there were so many apps. there was a back log of up to 45 days. I received mine though on 12/27.

"MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ME ! :D

Having taken a qualifying firearms course (4 hours) and having filled out the permit to carry application, I walked into the sheriff's office, gave them the app and the instructor's certificate that I had taken the course, and $50. They told me to sit down in the lobby.

Less than 15 minutes later, they came out and gave me the permit to carry. My guess is that they inputted my info into their computer, checked NICS, and printed the permit (which the sheriff signed).

This was Jan. 2011, after Iowa went from "may issue" to "shall issue"; so it took 4 hours, 15 minutes and 100 years.

WI got CCW on Nov. 1, 2011. I sent in my application on Nov. 12 and got my license in the mail on Jan. 5th, number in the 40 thousands!! By law, if you sent in an application after Dec. 1st, they have 21 days to deny or approve. They were so swamped with applications at first, it took mine almost 60 days.

But I have it now! :D

Seems to me that WI DOJ should have daily grabbed all the apps that were 22 days old (or older) and immediately issued a CCW to each applicant and dropped it in the mail that day. By law, they had 21 days to deny; they failed to do so, and what was required at that point was to approve. And I mean approve without further processing other than what was needed simply to print the permits.

FWIW, they did the same thing in Iowa after our shall issue law came into effect on 1/2/11. I was in and out in 15 minutes; but some counties were over 30 days on handling the app. Justice delayed is justice denied.
