6 weeks total in Mass two years ago (from safety course to license). However, my sister-in-law attended a safety class in December, and was told her appointment to APPLY for a permit is September this year.

I took my class, and was in front of the gun board a week later. I was issued my permit about ten minutes after appearing before the gun board, so it was a speedy process for me.

It was rendered moot about two months later because I finally got hired to a department... but still it was nice that the process was expedient in my case. Granted that was in my old home county. I know down here it takes much longer, but that's simply because they can only process so many permits and applications per month.

Mine took 5.5 weeks to get my Florida carry permit. And as soon as I started carrying, I never felt any nervousness. Went to Subway, Lowes, Starbucks & Walmart all that first day carrying!

Awards Showcase

NC law states the Counties have up to 90 days to approve or disapprove a CHP. We are a shall issue State. Mine took 60 days in my County but the Receptionist at the Shariff's office appologized for taking so long because of the amount of applications that had to be processed..........................

Application, fingerprints, and $105 fee submitted May 21. Appeared before the county gun board today, July 5, and received my Michigan CPL. 45 days total.

About three weeks in California (imagine that). I think it has to do with living in the same place my whole life and who you know! My Nevada CCW took about two and a half months . I know this seems backwards (CA is may issue, NV is shall issue) but the Nevada Sheriff said the delay was due to so many people applying for them.

For my Virginia CHP it took 23 days from start of paperwork until I received it in the mail.

My wife will be taking a class on the 20th, and will do the paperwork for hers this month so we'll see what difference 4 years makes.
