I went through the hoops today in Georgia. Went to probate court to fill out the forms, took picture and handed over $75 for 5 year permit. Then had to go to sheriffs office to get finger printed. They said I should have it in 2 weeks. I bought my first gun today and came home with it the same day.

Went and shot at the range. Stayed and shot the bull with the range officer. Took my paperwork to the station and got new national concealed carry license all in about two hours (retired Cop). I have to renew every year. Everyone on here who is qualified for concealed carry should have a national license but that's just my opinion.

About 20 minutes. Walked in with all appropriate paperwork filled out, paid the fee, instant background check, took the pic, printed out the card and on my way.

Iowa, while a shall issue state, also seems to have wiggle room for the county sheriff. Law says 30 days, and while some here got it fast, I'm in Polk county, our capital's home, and mine took 29 days. But I got a picture one! :/ My wife turned in her paperwork Monday, the 5th. We shall see if hers comes faster. I think our sheriff and our co. prosecutor need to go.

While in NJ you can technically get one, most are refused. I put in for a permit to BUY a handgun, and was told the where still 3-4 months behind on issuing permits. As of Feb 1st, they were still working on October's applications. What a joke!

I made out well for a New Yorker... mine took about 10 weeks which is amazing since I have buddies down the road (but in a different county) that didn't get theirs for over 6 months. I definitely rubbed it in their face haha

Only because I had to appear before the review board and they meet once a month. There was people in my class who got theirs much sooner which pissed me off but in the end I got it!! |
