| extra mags while CC
Saw a thread on another forum asking how much ammo people carried while they CC. Basically asking if they load the mag, rack the slide and go, or do that plus take the mag back out and top it off.
Lots of people chimmed in that they carry extra magazines as well.
Me, I don't care how a person carries, that's their business or preference. Some of the arguements were they want to be prepared for anything, so they pack an extra mag. My thoughts were, really? What kind of place do they live in that they need to be prepared for 'anything'. I had visions of these people walking around with their chests puffed out and arms arched as if they're really muscled up, buzz cut, shades, with a snarl on their face... Kinda amuzing to me really.
One guy went so far as to say, if you aren't going to be prepared and carry a spare mag, why carry at all?
Maybe it's different if you live in a gang occupied area and have several BG's to gun down, I know I read about this all the time. Or at least I've seen it in movies!
Me, just recently started to carry, loads a mag, inserts, racks slide for one in the chamber and call it good. That's not to say I wouldn't secretly like to have the gear to stash multiple mags and Bugs on me all over. But I don't see that happening any time soon, I'm finding the way I've always wear my jeans, there isn't much room for my LC9 IWB, and myself, let alone accessories
I know, I know, I need to lose weight, or buy bigger jeans

I carry a spare mag for the same reason I have a spare tire in my car and for the same reason I carry a firearm in the first place, just in case.
I dont live in a bad area, but as they say, better have it and not need it...

I personally don't see the need for extra mags. How many rounds can you put into a perp without it being consider excessive? Enough to make them stop I guess.

I have a few spare mag cases, but it's very rare that I use them for concealed carry. Not likely that with my lifestyle and where I live that I'll ever need more than one or two rounds for self defense. Actually it's not likely that I'll get into any self defense situations period. So you ask why carry at all. Well, because I can for one. And it does give me some comfort to know I'm ready if a situation should present itself.

Oh, I have no problem with anyone carrying extra mags. Like the above mentioned, they are prepared if they have a flat tire too. But what happens if you have TWO flat tires?? The possibilities are endless...
I don't know if I feel better because I'm carrying and have that as a defense, or just that I have one of my baby's with me at all times now..

I almost always carry a spare mag. They really don't take up that much room in your pocket. Someday I might get a mag carrier but it's not that big a deal.

I pockt carry my LCP 7+1 topped off. It has an one round finger extension. I don't carry an extra mag. When I carry the .38 LCR, I figure the five .38+P rounds should be enough. I don't like a lot of extra weight.

When I owned a store and carried in it I always carried an extra mag even when carrying a para p-14. I figured in an emergency it is better to have than not. I always carried the mag in my weakside pocket. and had nothing else in the pocket.

My CCW Instructor was of the opinion that there are only 2 times you can possibly be carrying too much ammo. If you are on fire or are drowning.
Not too much trouble to carry extra ammo. Would rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

Like most of us I don't really live in an area that is actually "dangerous", but there is a lot of Forestry ground here that is very attractive to the crack cookers and pot growers. That is a pretty good reason for a spare. Then there is the occasional trip to St. Louis which is another good reason.

Clearly none of you have seen Underworld Awakening, or ANY of the Underworld movies.
She is carrying Barretta 92's with extended 50 round magazines.
I will be prepared with enough ammunition on me!

With a Beretta Bobcat, I carry an extra mag. Had to hunt up knife belt pouches to fit those small mags, but they work well. Using .22LR, I just might need all fifteen rounds.

If you can't get yourself out of trouble carrying 10 or 12 rounds in the gun, you're in alot of trouble, so an extra mag isn't going to help you out much. So for me, I carry a Sig P229 in 357Sig, load the mag, top it off, call it good. That gives me 13 rounds. Like I said, if that don't get the job done, I better start prayin'.
