WI CCW Processing Times?

Curious how long it is taking to get WI CCW permits. What day did you mail in your application and what day did you get it?

I sent mine in on November 12...no permit yet.

I know this may not help you out much...but here in Greene County Ohio it takes about 40 days give or take 10 days to process a CCW permit.

It's supposed to take up to 21 days after a specified date. I saw it on our state website, but now I'm having trouble getting the document to load up on my browser and can't find that date (I think it might be December 1st??). Before that date, they just have to process the applications in the order received with no time limit applying. Was just curious to see if they are "swamped" or if they appear to be getting them out in quick order.

Ah...found it!

From
http://www.doj.state.wi.us/dles/cib/...q-20111020.pdf

"How long will it take to get a CCW license after I submit an application?
For completed applications received between November 1 and December 1, 2011, DOJ shall issue or deny as soon as practicable and no longer than 45 days after receiving an application. Wis. Act 35, 100(2).
After December 1, 2011, DOJ must either issue a license or deny the license application within 21 days of receiving the completed application. Wis. Stat. 175.60(9)(b).
The above time limits do not apply to incomplete applications."

How fast?

I would also think it would depend on your FBI background check.

So the state can say it is being held up via a background check and that very well could be the truth.

I take it it is the State of Wisconsin doing this and not counties?
That sounds better then the counties in Michigan.
Some counties are very quick and some are dreadfully s l o w.
I pity the people living in Macomb County in Mich.

In Nj our processing time is never. You cannot get a ccw unles you have a securit guard job and most of the security companies hire retired police because of the trouble. There are less than 1000 non job related carry permits in a state of 9 million. Our republican governor christie came out against hr 822 carrrry reciprocity and the state police and the state attorney generals office have said they will not abide by hr 822 if it becomes law until it iis upheld by the sureme court of the us.

I sent mine in on November 1st, the first day the application was available.

I used a postal money order for payment so that they couldn't say they waited for the check to clear which may or may not hold up the process, IDK.

My license was issued Nov 13th (a Sunday !) and I recieved it on the 15th. It was in the #52xx range.

Reports are that they recieved over 30,000 applications in the first three days, and are currently at about 25,000 licenses issued (a rough guestimate from the licence numbers I am hearing people recieve in the last few days).

Two people I know who sent theirs in on November 2nd haven't recieved them yet as of yesterday.

Also note the DOJ has requested more employees for processing applications

Kinda figured that would happen.
One more reason why my senator and Rep (Grothman and Strachota) were pushing for Constitutional carry- they are firm believers that less is more when it comes to government.

Well, THAT kinda sucks...I would hope it wouldn't take them too long to get it processed once they cash the check unless maybe they wait 10 days or something just to be sure it doesn't bounce. That would seem odd since nowadays it seems that every bank is connected electronically and as soon as the check is run through the reader, it knows if there is enough money in the writers account.

Oh well, hope you gets yours soon so it helps clear out the system so I can get mine!

I need to start a band! Then I could get mine sooner I suppose the DOJ folks enjoy the fanfare of a serenade by a band so they work faster.

Sorry couldn't resist!!

Ace ... While constitutional carry is the ultimate goal, it's great to see you guys and gals in WI complaining about the wait time for receipt of your license instead of having to complain about being a NO ISSUE state

Amen, brother!! I am SO STOKED that we finally have CCW! And to be honest, I'm not complaining about the processing times, I'm just like a kid in a candy store and have to learn to be patient! It's kind of like the day I soloed my first airplane at age 16...I knew it was coming, but couldn't wait for the euphoria that came when the day finally arrived!
