| Do you shop at businesses that are posted no concealed weapons?
I had to comment on something the gripes me. I can understand that some places have a no concealed carry policy like banks, the courthouse etc. To tell you the truth I would kinda feel uncomfortable carrying a weapon in these places , and there are usually more than enough sheriffs deputies in the courthouse that I don't feel I need my CCW. However there are places like my local mall, that do not allow ccw's. This actually has driven me to not shop at places that won't allow me to carry inside there business. I look at it that I am legally able to carry a concealed weapon, and these businesses are infringeing on my rights. Since I believe in the ccw, I don't shop at these businesses, even if I have to go to another city to shop. What do you guys have to say, and what do you think?

I absolutely carry in my bank, in fact I left my anti-CCW bank and transferred my accounts to a bank which does not post no CCW. I don not shop in anti-ccw stores and have had "No Guns" signs removed after writing professional and polite letters to owners explaining the false sense of security their signs provide and my reasons for not shopping there.

We're just getting into Conceal Carry here in Wisconsin. It doesn't actually go into effect until November 1st. Already I have seen one sign that was put up in a shop I visited with my wife. She wanted to stop there to pick up supplies for her stained glass work. The shop is run by two women and while I was in there I asked one of the owners "if they are going to take away an honest citizens ability to protect themself when they come in their store, are they then going to guarantee that customer protection by having a police officer inside or are one of them going to then protect said customer"? Could've stuffed a loaf of bread in her gaping "pie-hole". My wife said the next time she went into the store the sign was gone. I don't know how it works in other states, but our CCW law says it's a misdemeanor to carry in a place with a "sign" saying not to and the fine is $25.00, IF you get caught and don't leave. What's in your pocket? |

You can carry in plain sight legally. Kinda weird contrasting requirements !

I don't go where I can't carry, unless I absolutely have to.

Those stores that post no weapons should also post a welcome sign for those deranged cowards who choose to shoot up a public place, but who don't want to be confronted by an armed citizen who may fire back. A toy store in my area posts no weapons. I refuse to let my wife and child shop in a store that welcomes cowardly sociopaths to take out their anger and frustrations on unarmed citizens. In fact, our toy store sits in a major shopping center and next to a mall that all allow concealed weapons. Guess which store would likely be the target for the above example? I wrote a letter and did not even get a response. Well they lost my, and hopefully many others, business. I just hope a tragic incident never happens there. I hope I never have to think "I told you so" because then it would be too late. Only law abiding, permit carrying and approved citizens abide by these signs, not criminals. The sign might as well say good guy permit holders stay out but criminals with guns keep on packin and shopin!

In Pennsylvania the only places off limits to ccw are court facilities, even in schools one can carry for a "Lawful Purpose". Any place can post a sign prohibiting carry, but it's not a crime to carry in these places,
it's only a crime to refuse to leave when told to do so. (Defiant Trespass).

Laws like this only hurt the innocent and do nothing to keep out the bad guys.

Here in AZ it appears there are two levels of how a business can tell you not to CCW inside. A non bar business can post a sign and I think that all they can do is ask you to leave if they know you are carrying. For those businesses, I ignore the sign and shop there as I please figuring the worst case is they would try to press trespassing charges. But, places that serve liquor can post a special sign they have to print from the internet via the state liquor licensing board. I figure that sign bears the force of a state licensing agency and violating that sign would be a more punishable offense. I do not give those establishments my business/money.

I'm not sure I've seen any such signs around here. When I'm carrying I don't worry about banks, etc.
The only places I don't is like a doctor's office when I know I'll be taking off some clothing.

If I can't carry, I don't contribute to them by shopping there. I will go elsewhere, order online/mail order or whatever else I need to do. I also changed my bank because the one I used to use posted the NO WEAPONS INSIDE signs.
I have written letters to some of them informing them of why they no longer have my business and stating my belief that if they prohibit their customers from protecting themselves, that they have an obligation to do so.

Not sure what the justification is for allowing anyone to infringe on the Constitution. Businesses don't get to violate the 13th amendment and enslave their workers just because they are a private establishment.

If I am aware that a business forbids weapons to handgun carry permit holders, and I have the option to shop elsewhere, I avoid that business.

You feel the business infringes on your rights but it is also there right to not allow it, not that I'm defending them but everyone has rights and who determines whos rights take presidence. Its kinda like if someone came to your house and started shooting up heroin you would probably throw them out of your house at minimum because that is your right to do so. Now as far as these business' that dont allow people to carry in their store also take away their right to have me and alot of you spend money in their place of business.
