I carry 100% of the time into businesses even if its posted no CCW. I have the legal right to carry and in Iowa if the business asks you to leave and you refuse to then you can be ticketed for trespassing nothing else. If they find out I am carrying I just leave and come back, if they ask me again if I am carrying I tell them no. They can not legally search me for a firearm.
The only places that I don't CCW into are the places that aren't allowed by law; school's, federal buildings, etc.
99.9% of the businesses that post that they don't allow CCW don't post the correct signage (Per State Law) and therefore they cannot charge you with trespassing if that's the only reason they are asking for you to leave. This is directly from my Sheriff not from a lawyer.

If I am carrying concealed, they would never know it unless I had to use it. I'll deal with the trespass charges after the fact.

However there are places like my local mall, that do not allow ccw's. This actually has driven me to not shop at places that won't allow me to carry inside there business. I look at it that I am legally able to carry a concealed weapon, and these businesses are infringeing on my rights. Since I believe in the ccw, I don't shop at these businesses, even if I have to go to another city to shop. What do you guys have to say, and what do you think? | I like this discussion. I had to convince myself to carry. There are places and times where I use common sense, like the places you've indicated. I have a CCW permit issued by the State that I live in that recognizes that I am responsible and capable of using good judgement. A business can post anything they want but I don't think that legally they can search your person to determine if you're packing. The local "mall" up here is avoided by me not because of the possibility of a non-ccw billing, but I don't like to go to places where gang bangers bring guns illegally and don't what the unneeded challenge. I look at it this way: if a business can tell you what to do like no ccw or no smoking, that's their right. I pack with care and the only way they'll know it is if I have to use it to save my life while in their business. At that time, I don't care what they think about it.

All hospitals in my area have "no firearms allowed" signs posted. So I don't carry when I have to use their facility. I would not patronize them --- if I had a choice, but I also need their medical care.
My place of employment also post "no firearms allowed" signs. I don't agree with their position, but, I need a job. So far, those are the only two facliities that I have a problem with in my area.

If they do not want my gun they do not want my business, other than on our local military base.

I have carried mine so much, don't even look for signs. Just know not to carry in Public offices or schools.

My place of employment posted those signs up almost immediately after Gov. Walker passed the CCW bill here in Wisconsin. I find it a sad irony that some of the places where one most likely may need to defend themselves, (workplace, school shootings, etc.), are the same places that seem to do everything in their power to deny us this right. If some disgruntled employee ever came in and shot up the place where I work and assuming I survived, I'd seriously consider suing the pants off them, not just for monetary gain but to teach them a lesson.
Also, me being very close to the Illinois border and due to their stubborn and illogical stance as being the only state left in the union without some form of CCW, I've considered not stepping foot or doing any business there as long as I can help it. But in all honesty, I don't know if I could stick to my guns (pun intended) on that one.

| Well, the monetary gain would be OK...definitely not worth getting shot though.
That is what bugs me the most...the company could basically get sued out of business. As the WI CCW law is written, companies would not be held liable for anything that happened by them allowing permitted CCW holders to carry at work. To me, that implies that if they DON'T allow us to carry and we are hurt or killed, they open themselves up to a suit for "not providing adequate protection"...of course, I'm not a lawyer, but would certainly hire the best one if I found myself in this situation.

When they first passed the laws allowing permits here in Tennessee, signs popped up all over the place. As time went on, they slowly disappeared. Now I can't think of any place posted. Kind of a moot point now.

Ace | Hello fellow Badger,
Your absolutely right. I've even heard that some lawyers here are telling their clients NOT to put those signs up for that very reason. As any logical person knows, if somebody is bound and determined to shoot the place up without regards for themselves, a sign certainly isn't going to stop them, but that same sign could possibly get them sued by any CCW holders or their families who were killed or wounded.

"Do I shop at establishments that do not allow CCW", ABSOLUTELY. I carry 24/7 and since my weapon is "concealed" nobody knows and I have never been made. In my state most places that have no weapon signs posted can only ask you to leave. If I ever get made I will leave and never come back. The only places I do not CCW are government buildings and places that I will be searched (concerts, etc.) or have to go through a metal detector.

| I dont Shop businesses that don't uphold our constitutional rights. The problems with security generally isnt because of the CCW holders, its because of the lawless.

I don't shop in places that post a legal "30.06" sign. On the other hand, what we see a lot of here in TX are signs that say, "The unlicensed carrying of a handgun on these premises is prohibited." Most of the sheeple see it as a "handguns prohibited" sign. What it really says is, "LEO and CHL holders, come on in!" I do as much business as possible with those places.
