Just curious as it seems a lot less trouble since no one would know there was a piece in it and you don't have to worry about clothing issues.

I play tennis a couple times a week and when we go to eat afterwards I use a leather fanny pack that has a velcro pocket for my weapon, and other pockets for my wallet, keys, extra mags etc.It works very well for this purpose as trying to carry via a holster is a little difficult in shorts w/o a belt...

There's been several topics about Fanny Packs on this forum. I have a couple of them and never wear them. To me it's a dead give away what people are using them for. Maybe because I'm aware of how many people that are carrying. Others might not give it a second thought. I know I shouldn't worry about what others are thinking but to me it looks odd seeing a man with one on. It would different if you're at the beach ,lake or in the outdoors. Just to be walking around in the general public I'm not comfortable. Another thing a criminal pretty much figures what's in there and could make you a target for a quick snatching. It doesn't take much to get a gun out the way they are designed. Of course this is my opinion. For now I'll stick with my pocket carry or IWB.

For summer shorts, particularly the ones that don't have belts, I have found that a belly band [which helps keep the shorts from falling down] and a cover shirt works really great. It keeps the gun really close to the body and really improves conceal-ability. My SR9c disappears under a rig like that and I still look like a casual Middle Aged White Guy.

Ran across one of our game wardens couple years ago. He had his girls out shopping. I pointed at his pack and said you know every one knows whats in it. He just smiled and said I know. I like iwb best in the summer.

I have one, but I've never worn it. I don't care if anyone "knows" what's in it. The only people who know will be other CC-ers. I'm not convinced BGs are up on what we law abiding folks do; most of them run in such a completely different circle from us, it's a whole 'nother universe.

As another middle aged white guy, I just don't feel I can pull off the "fanny pack" look. Maybe with shorts and a casual shirt, but I don't dress that way all that often, and my IWB holster works just fine.

Clint Eastwood didn't use a fanny pack, I don't think John Wayne did either. But then again, they both had kind of a 'tough' look to them.

Sorry, I just got a kick out of the title and it made me think of something a woman wears.:-)

I have a good friend back home. You might say he's a bit or more then a bit on the full figured side. He wears one all the time. I've seen him with it so many times I don't even notice it. I'm sure others do and wonder what's that fat boy wearing that thing for LOL. I think it looks comical this big guy walking around with a belly purse.

I'm sure there's a time and place for them. Some already said when they use them and I don't see anything wrong with that. It's just being dressed up and wearing a FP just doesn't sit well with me.

I have one and use it when I go for a walk. I normally walk at 5:00 in the morning while it is dark but cool (has been hot here in Texas). The pack has a Velcro enclosure in back for a pistol (I carry my SR9C in it). The other day as I was walking down the a street that did not have street lights on it, I noticed the shapes of three people coming towards me as I got closer I could tell that they were around 18 years of age. Now I am 69 years old and out of shape, so I was a little concerned. As I came up to them they stopped right in the middle of the side walk blocking my way. I did not say anything I just reached down and ripped the Velcro open and but my hand on the gun (did not draw it), they instantly stepped aside and let me pass. I believe they heard the Velcro open and saw where my hand went.

In retrospect they were probably just three fine young Christian boys that wanted to help out an old man.

I carry my drivers licence, CCL and my cell phone in it. Also carry a bottle of water so that it looks as if I am using it for the water.

I use one when we are hiking and use IWB the rest of the time. I keep my GPS, Truck Keys, and either LC9 or SR9c in it.

My wife carries a fanny pack instead of a purse most of the time; but she keeps her gun in an iwb or pocket holster.
