However, in order to get the Class B you have to go through all the same motions as if you were getting the Class A (concealed carry). Same $150 fee, same schooling/training, same interview with the Chief, same mugshots and fingerprints. The more I learned and thought about it, the more I realized that if I was going to go through all that for the Class B, I might as well get the Class A. Part of that was driven my my growing feelings that all of it was an infringement on what I was slowing seeing was a natural Right of mine. So I went all NRA, Don't tread on ME!

Couple that with the fact that every instructor and store owner said to just go for the Class A for the flexibility and the fact that as I learned more and thought more about it (thanks Ruger Forum!) I realized that if I was convinced I needed a gun to protect my family at home, I probably "needed" one even more to protect them far afield.

And the rest, as they say, is history!
you either need new laws or to move. that's crazy!

My reason for CCW is (1) protection for myself and family, (2) Son had a gun pulled on him when he attempted to stop a BG ripping stuff off from a neighbor, (3) a middle age couple were attacked, husband killed, wife beaten, raped and left for dead....perps were 4 young wanna be gang bangers.... and most of all, I carry a gun because I can't carry a cop.

The real reasons are three; one I don't want to find myself in the postition of the woman who left her weapon in the car at the diner, having to experience the abject terror those people felt. Two, i'm really into TOOLS. This is a tool i can carry to fix a bad situation, for my wife and myself. Three, in the Southwest, especially in and around Phoenix, lots of wack jobs with nasty attitudes!!

I decided to arry because of a series of events. A few days before I was to go on vacation, a man walked into the Radio Shack just a few blocks from where I worked, and simply shot a young woman. It was not a burgulary, he just wanted to kill someone. When I went up North a few days later, I discovered my friends and both my brothers and wives carried. They explained the benefits of concealed carry to me, and a week later, upon returning to Florida, I signed up. I decided it was time to stop ignoring all the bad things around me and hoping I would not be a victum, and learn to stand up for myself. After all, it's no longer the happy post-war 1950's. Crime happens everywhere, every day, and I felt it was time to take my head out of the sand.

Honest and hard working

I have worked for everything I own. I will not let some punk try and take that away from me, just because he has nothing better to do with his life..... No one has respect for others.
Society has changed drastically over the past 20-30 years .... I have not.

I have a brother that has quite a nice collection of handguns, and he got me interested in shooting. One thing (and one gun) led to another (and another, and another...) and I decided it would be helpful to take the CCW class and be prepared to protect myself and my family if the need arose. Hope I never have to do so, but I'm glad I am prepared.

I used to carry when I owned a store, otherwise in NJ on a practical levelCCW is legally impossible. The courts have ruled in order to get a non jobrelated carry permit you have to have the chief law enforcement officer in your area write a letter that your are in danger and the local police cannot give you adequate protection. Even if a police chief is sympathetic to concealed carry how many will wrie a letter like that. If you carry illegally and accidentaly shoot someone who you should not have, and even trained police officers do you are charged with 1st degree murder as you hqave killed someone during the commission of a crime. Illegal carry of a weapon.

It is my duty!

It is my duty , to protect my family and myself. Worked in insurance and financial business for 30 years, during which time was out at night and in some undesirable situations>

I will be carrying for two reasons: #1 is to protect myself from the NRA crazies; #2 to protect myself from the WHITE skinheads.

The barest of tongue in cheek up there but close.

I am also one of rarest of breeds: a Liberal Democrat, former Marine (once and forever) and old so i need all the help i can get.

No flames please! We all have to live together or we will die together!

I'm still waiting for mine in the mail, but doing it for a two reasons...

1) Protection of me and my family

2) I believe if you don't exercise your rights, whats stopping someone from taking them away.
