I agree with Stirfry, and to protect my family and anyone else that need be.

Another reason to carry

......http://www.washingtonpost.com/nation...15G_story.html I'm not too far from where this happened.

Great for this guy, he may have saved other peoples lives as well as his own. Wonder if he hit the guy before he took his own life?

Carrying is something I wouldn't have considered a few years ago but it's something I see myself doing in the future. My Dad was robbed with a gun to his head about 2 years ago and now carries as well as my step mom. That incident changed him....never owned a gun before and now he has 4. We've never been "gun people" simply because we haven't been around too many but enough is enough!

I think someone said it on this thread and sums it up for me..... I just don't want to be a sheep.

Pretty simple really. I'm getting older and the world is getting crazier and I'm not fool enough to think a cop is going to be there for my family or myself when I need him. Not blaming the cops, but crime waits for knowone.

I work very close to the fringes of the inner city ghetto/entitlement land.
Robberies/car thefts/assaults/gang activity are ever present. I have gassed up my car nearby in the past and have been approached by shady characters in a 'criminal interviewing' sort of way.
Riots occasionally occur- usually associated when street festivals, certain ethnic groups, and alcohol are in the same place at the same time.
Legally, the best I can do at the present time is keep a carbine/loaded mags in the trunk.

I live in South Florida...and if you go on what the media shows, I should carry . I truely am not afraid for my own well being {6'5" 350 lbs}, its the safety of my family, friends and those not able to defend themselves I feel the need to protect and sheppard...corny but biblical. Ill continue to do so until they day I feel my abilities no longer warrent it. THEN I hope some younger person, no matter the sex shows their moxy and steps up to the plate to carry on my diligence.

I'm a Retired LEO, so I have been carrying since 1975. I'm not gonna stop now.

Wanting to be legal when having my pistol within arms length in the vehicle on trips was my first consideration.

Mainly for Self Defense and Mostly for Family Defense.

It also makes it a heck of a lot easier to transport my firearms and ammunition by having a CPL/CCW then not having a CPL/CCW.
In my state anyways....
With a CPL I can just toss my range bag with firearms and ammo in the car.
Even loaded.
Without a CPL it is a hassle and you have to 'separate' the ammo from the firearms in any vehicle you are transporting them in.
Gawd Forbid you have anything loaded withOUT a CPL.

So having a CPL/CCW is not only smart....It is logical....
Life is just simpler!

As many have already said, i feel an obligation to have the tools necessary to give my family the best chance of survival in a bad situation. I also just like firearms and think that they are worth they're weight in gold in a survival situation.

Since the last presidential election, I decided it was time. Got my CC. This just allows me to carry concealed, as through the years, I was already open carrying when in the 'wild', have one or more available for house protection, and available under the seat in the car (loaded of course) and such. Just part of living and breathing. Not called the great 'equalizer' for nothing.

Growing up in Arizona I open carried all the time. Here in NC near Camp Lejeune, some LEO's and a few ultra lefties freak if they see you carrying. Makes no sense since it's legal. Plus I so thoroughly enjoyed jumping through the Sheriffs Hoops to get it. I had nothing better to do with my time<--sarcasm. You can't buy handguns here in NC without a permit anyway.

Crime in the areas me and my family frequent went up so much I simply felt like an irrisponsible fool for not doing everything I possibly could to try and keep my family safe. It's legal, why the hell wouldn't I?
